Breakaway Bermuda Prices!!!

Is it just me or does anyone else think the prices for these cabins are just way over the top?

I personally think they are ridiculous! Seriously - $3/4K for a BALCONY!!! Then when they aren't being sold, they drop to where they should have been to begin with - $2K if not less!

NCL make it right - price them like they should be from the get go and not drop them to this price a few weeks before sailing.

It ticks those people off that booked prior and obviously the reductions are what works for affordability.

NCL DO THE RIGHT THING!! Okay that is all I'm going to say!!!

Bermuda cruises arn't cheap . They don't drop much and almost always sell out.

You might get a balcony cabin last minute in the shoulder season for 2k .

Not just you - I agree totally! Seeing the crazy price drops lately - we will wait to the last minute to book!!!

I upgraded to a balcony guarantee last July and got a family mini suite. Total price was $1750. I'd originally booked a studio for $1450 and upgraded last minute to the balcony guarantee for $300.

The prices are ridiculous considering that starting April 1st casino gambling will be allowed. The reason the prices have historically high was because they were losing money on the casino being closed for multiple days (same as Hawaii).

Even if the port charges ($189.91) are $55.00 dollars higher then Bahamas/Florida ($134.67) it does not justify the markup they are charging.

The port charges are the port charges. Bermuda is 3 days of charges. Fl and Bahamas is 2, port canaveral and Nassau. That's the difference

Look at pricing on the Dawn. Much better. Of course it is smaller and older but a great ship anyways. ;)

Like everyone else mentions, I think it depends on when you're going, and what ship you're going on. I know the Celebrity Summit, which also goes to Bermuda is less expensive. But, from everyone I've spoken to, that's a ship that has a bed check at 9:30 p.m. (j/k).

As mentioned, the Dawn is less expensive, too. But, as good as it may be, it still doesn't offer the kind of (great) entertainment the Breakaway does.

For another data point, I'm booked June 8 this year on the Breakaway. I also looked at the Allure of the Seas out of FL on the same date. Its inside balcony cabin (not even an ocean view balcony cabin), was $150pp more than the Breakaway mini-suite. Allure's mini-suite was $600 more per couple than the full blown Haven Spa Suite (with concierge and butler) than the Breakaway.

I consider the Breakaway a better cruise experience than the Allure, too.

So, lots of factors...ship, destination, time of year cruising, etc.

I do love Bermuda, though. Was there last year on the Breakaway, too. It's an expensive place, though.

We watched them last summer to get an idea for this year. Since our son works for NCL we have to book 45 days out or less to get a good discount. There were still many inside, ov, and balconies available at that timeframe. Just studios and suites were sold out. Hopefully, that is the same this year. I agree with the OP that the prices are just nuts for Bermuda.

NCL does the right thing. They drop fares closer to sailing to fill empty cabins. If you can travel last minute and are not very picky about location then you are invited to book after final payment as well. That is when the major price drops begin.

Wouldn't that mean more people would want to now sail to Bermuda because they can use the casino now? Supply/demand.

Bermuda prices have always been high. If you want to wait until the last minute to book whatever is available that's a choice you have to make.

That's exactly why we are sailing out of Boston. I would have loved to try the Breakaway but right now its out of our price range for 2 rooms.

Ditto. We are sailing to Bermuda on the Dawn in July. We needed 2 staterooms and the price could not be beat on Dawn compared to the Breakaway. We are planning to extend our trip to 4 days in Boston after the cruise. Our family has never been there so it will be fun! Plus, we are going on the Breakaway TOMORROW!!!

Well I'm jealous! I'd give my left leg to be sailing the BA tomorrow! Lol.

Boston is such a beautiful city. We did a whale sighting tour there a few years ago and the view of the city was awesome.

Have a great cruise tomorrow. :)

Well what do you know - yesterday there were some cabin category price drops on Bermuda sailings. Not enough though. Still too high especially when compared to other lines - that are less expensive and some are even offering prepaid gratuities, UBP's and OBC.

I will see what happens - would prefer to sail NCL but $$$ makes a big difference. :(
