DISNEY1975 Posted February 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2014 I have 2.. 1) My daughter just came back from a themed party at the kids club, dressed like a (gorgeous) pirate. Splash Academy staff painted her face, gave bandanas, eye patches and a Tshirt decorated like a pirate. She looked adorable. So I stopped in to the family comedy show (Second City) to tell the rest of my family we were going back to the room. As we walked into the lounge, one of the performers said "Oh, look at the pirate who joined us" He invited her on to the stage area and she became part of the act! She LOVED it! I loved it..one of my best moments 2) FINALLY I won a round of Bingo! It was a big jackpot round of $500!! I was so excited and then they announced there was a second winner :(. OK, Ill share I guess!! But of the 300+ people playing, it turned out to be my brother in law who was the second winner! Fun memory!!
kcwingwalker Posted February 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2014 This may not rank high in the "happy memories" category, but it's something I always remember with pleasure. We were on the Spirit in December 2008 and it had been sailing with 3 engines. On the Saturday that we were on our way back to NOLA the weather was fabulous and the ocean was like a mirror. The captain announced that the 4th engine was finally ready and had passed all tests but one................the full speed test! So we were warned and ready that all engines would be running at full speed until we left the gulf and hit the Mississippi "bump". Within just a few minutes it seemed like we were flying! Then ABBA was playing and it was "Dancing Queen" and a group of red hat ladies got up and started dancing. Everyone was laughing, clapping, singing and several joined the dancing. The drinks were flowing and everyone was so happy! Whenever I hear "Dancing Queen" I have to smile and remember what a great afternoon we had. meatball_nyc Posted February 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Happiest? Wow. That is hard. First one that comes to mind is swimming with the dolphins with my son (then 10) on Tortola. Boarding our first cruise 8 years ago and we were just amazed by the ship. We were running up and down the halls laughing and going crazy. Sailing out of NYC can be pretty amazing and our first time was just beyond words. Seeing our city from the ships point of view sailing on the Hudson River was something very special. mtwingcpa Posted February 16, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2014 This was an unforgettable happening: I had just sat down for dinner in the rear MDR aboard the Dawn. As the ship pulled away from the dock, the piano player stuck up the theme from the Titanic movie. It was a totally "high" moment! :-)
ksimpso3 Posted February 16, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Happiest was our first NCL cruise...it was on the Dawn. We were mesmerized by everything, and sailing past the Statue of Liberty was amazing!! It was the first cruise for our daughters also. 2nd happiest (okay, maybe the happiest ;)) was also on the Dawn....setting foot into the garden villa for the first time! Talk about amazing!!! This was it!! The most wonderful space we have had to date on a cruise :D
LrgPizza Posted February 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Just one of many: We were in the theater on our first Disney Cruise. They were running a spotlight around the audience. My 11 month old son, who was dressed in a tuxedo, was sound asleep on my shoulder. The spotlight stopped on him, and we appeared on the big screen. They announced that my sweet sleeping baby had just won this gigantic stuffed Mickey Mouse, which we went on stage in front of everyone to accept. It was life-sized (I mean, not mouse life sized though. haha). My son was in utter awe of this giant when he awoke. He is 11 now and still has it in his bedroom. sebas030 Posted February 16, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Now there is a good thread! :) After 5 cruises, fantastic customer service experience, visited great port of calls and plenty of great memories,.... The best memory I have today is my first cruise...in fact the first time we walked on the ship and toured it...we felt alone on the ship even if we were hundreds and hundreds.... We walked ALL over the ship ( the Gem ), I knew all about the ship because of extensive reading on these boards :) and it was wonderful. Still today the part I enjoy the most is the discovery of the ship !!! Sent from my iPhone using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app
daffodiliaz Posted February 16, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) This memory always makes me smile. We participated in the majority rules game. When the host asked "If the ship was sinking what's the first thing you'd save?" Well, because of the host's accent I wrote down "Oh sh*t". Our answer matched the majority as one other group has also misunderstood and thought she said "what's the first thing you'd say?" :D My mom and I had a good laugh and a nice happy memory even if she was embarassed. Rare www3traveler Posted February 16, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 16, 2014 On the 26th of January I completed my 19th Norwegian cruise. Each of my cruises hold a special place in my heart because of the people I have met both other passengers and a staff. I would have to say that this last one will be very special for a long time because it was the Maiden Adventure of The Getaway from Southampton, United Kingdom to New York City. I love every minute of the cruise. From Captain Rune Myre to the wait, bar and housekeeping staff, everyone was very kind.

david_sobe Posted February 16, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Good thread First cruise with (then to be) wife and my first suite experience. Early one morning while it was still dark, I woke up and rolled over to look out our bedroom doors aft view. The stars and planets were on the horizon and I had never seen anything so spectacular before. This was right before dawn and I will never forget this. funat55 Posted February 16, 2014 #19 Share Posted February 16, 2014 There was one cruise where my sister and I had booked a balcony guarantee. Up until the day of sailing we didn't even know our room number. We checked in and then we were escorted to a penthouse suite. It seems that our travel agent (who coincidentally was another one of our sisters) surprised us with an upgrade. We started jumping up and down like we did when we were 7 and got our first Barbie dolls on Christmas day.
DDMau Posted February 16, 2014 #20 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Lots of great memories but the happy ones were when we took the Grandkids on their first cruise. We have six Grandkids and we take two at a time, four down and two to go.

mets07 Posted February 16, 2014 #25 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Can't pick just one... 1)Very fun vacations with our two sons from about age 13 to 22. 2) Returning with my husband to Antigua (where we went on our honeymoon) 28 years later. 3) Just viewing the ocean and star-filled sky at night on any cruise ship. 4) On an RCCL ship, we ate dinner each night with a family from Ireland and a family from Brooklyn. We live in NJ and are originally from NY. There were the 3 couples and our 5 children. There were many laughs and the man from Brooklyn belted out O Solo Mio at the end of one dinner in the MDR. The couple from Ireland told us that our teenage children were the nicest American teenagers they had ever met. We were very proud of them but they were genuinely enjoying as well the company and spirit of the younger Irish kids --- quite an experience. 5) An excursion to Jost Van Dyke. Met a wonderful couple on same excursion who invited my husband and I and a few other couples back to their beautiful and I believe largest suite on the ship multiple times for cocktails. They were fun, kind, and generous.
