No More Long Caribbean Cruises on Princess

I just hate the way Princess stuck two 7 night cruises together and call it a 14 night cruise. A Day at Princess Cay, FLL, and then another day at Princess Cay means THREE wasted days!:(

They do this quite a bit on other cruise itineraries and it's not good.

Princess has ONE 14-day Caribbean cruise scheduled this year. We're booked on it. Ocean Princess.

That is a great itinerary on a very small ship and is perfect for those looking for a Xmas/New Years Cruise. So Princess is able to accommodate fewer then 700 people this year on a true 14 day Caribbean cruise. That is kind of sad for a major cruise line with a big Caribbean presence. Personally, we would love to do this particular cruise but do not like to cruise over the holidays because the thought of being stuck on a ship with hundreds of kids is just not something we want to contemplate.

We have only done the Caribbean once and it was B2B eastern then western on Caribbean Princess in 2006. We loved the day at Princess Cay and couldn't wait for the second stop there the following week. On our day back at FLL we did a swamp tour on an airboat that was great!

Bottom line is the Itinerary was perfect for us!

But would there be lots of kids on a 14 day cruise? Yes, it is over a holiday that many families spend together, but i thought longer itineraries usually didn't have lots of kids.

I guess it's because I live in FL That a day at a beach or having been to FLL so many times makes it a waste for me. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

I also miss the real 14 day Caribbean cruises , we have done a couple of them a few years back, now I don't care to go back to Ft. Lau. in the middle and spend two days at Princess Cay, I know it is probably a cost consideration , but I sure wish they would offer them again, even once in awhile. We can't go during the holidays , so the Ocean cruise mentioned before doesn't work for us. I wish it would work for us ,I would book it.....

We also miss the longer itineraries in the Caribbean. I fully understand why the shorter cruises but that turn around day in FLL for us is a loss of a day and disruptive. Princess's 10 day b/b does ease the sting a bit but we just did b/b 7's on Celebrity and weren't taken by it at all. As for the Princess and Celebrity's loyalty programs, we much prefer Princess's, free laundry and internet minutes has has real value to us....the liquor much less so.

Just to clarify, Celebrity also has free laundry (limited for Elites and unlimited for Elite Plus) and lots of free internet minutes. HAL also has unlimited free laundry (at the 4 Star Mariner level) but zero free internet minutes (until the rare 5 Star Level).

Just to clarify we much prefer Princess's loyalty for the reasons I stated above.
