Rache. Posted July 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2005 First cruise on the Veendam next weekend ;) and I'm confused about dining times. For Alaska there are four times. Our docs say "confirmed early; waitlisted main request". Does that mean we are confirmed for the very first of the four times and are waitlisted for either the second or the third time? Big Al B. Posted July 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2005 Are you sure there are four times? Our Alaskan cruise on HAL (admittedly a while ago) only had two. I have never been on a cruise with four.
doone Posted July 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2005 HAL now has 4 dining times. I know they can differ in Alaska, but in the Caribbean, the 4 times would be 5:45 pm, 6:16 pm would be the early, main, or late dinner would be 8 pm or 8:30 pm. When you go to your cabin, you will find an envelope with your dining time and table number. If its not what you want and you wanted the later seating, simply go to the Matre D onboard to change it. If its at all possible, they will be happy to change it for you. Enjoy Alaska and the Veendam, she's a beautiful ship.
marco Posted July 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 22, 2005 A lot of ships now (various lines) have either two dining rooms or an upper and lower level in thier dining rooms. Rather than just having an early and a late sitting a lot of them now are staggered. IE: One dining room or one level: Early: 5:30 other level or other dining room: Early -6PM One dining room or level: Late: 8PM Other other dining room or level Late: 8:30. Sort of a first early, second early, first late, second late, but different lines call them different things, early, main, late, supplemental.
