Blackrobe Posted February 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2014 We are looking for indiviuduals or companies that cruisers have used in these cities. We will be cruising to them in October, 2014 and need to make arrangements if we are going private for excursions. Many thanks!
Rare LHT28 Posted February 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2014 There is a thread just down the page with lots of info on St John's probably one on Halifax as well ;)
flowers44 Posted February 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2014 In researching our upcoming trip to New England and Canada, I had it pointed out to me that St. John's is in Newfoundland and St. John is in New Brunswick, both Canadian cities. The "s" is on the Newfoundland city and there is no "s" on the New Brunswick city. It makes a difference when you research for tours. Just a word from someone who learned something about Canadian cities while researching shore excursions.

It is actually Saint John N.B. not St John
flowers44 Posted February 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I did not realize that either. Thank you for pointing that out. It seems like a small thing but could make a big difference in researching the two areas.
maryann ns Posted February 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) I posted lots of information for Halifax on this recent thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1989879 You will find other threads by scrolling down. Even Google Maps messes up Saint John, New Brunswick. They have been told, but we'll have to try again. I gather some cruise lines get it wrong too. Rare MVPinBoynton Posted February 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2014 We had wonderful private tours in Halifax and Sydney. You can see lots of photos from those tours in our Canada/NE review on our website www.thepreismans.com. They are lovely ports with lots to see and do. Enjoy! We'll stay 3 days in QC and then take the train to Montreal for the remaining three days. The information you provided will be invaluable to us.
