CRUZERWANNABE Posted February 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2014 Back to not wanting to over pack ...most of our excursion are straight to a beach, we will not be doing much walking or have any rugged adventures planned. I invested in some great walking sandals for our Disney trip and they worked well for the 10+ miles a day I put on. I really want to use the treadmill in the mornings, will these be okay, will they even let me on the equipment without sneakers? Thanks for the help Carol
hrhdhd Posted February 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2014 I don't know if the gym attendants will say anything, but I wouldn't use open-toed / open-heeled shoes on a treadmill even if I were on land. Remember that you'll also need to keep your balance if the ship is rocking, and if you lose your balance, you're more likely to stub a toe or otherwise injure your feet. cb at sea Posted February 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Athletic shoes in the gym..period. On your excursions, flip flops or sandals will be fine for almost everything except hiking in rough terrain.
LrgPizza Posted February 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2014 If you don't want to pack the sneakers to use the treadmill, maybe you could just walk/jog the deck in the mornings? I guess it depends on your ship, but it seems a lot have paths for this.
092306 Posted February 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2014 I've seen the gym attendants ask women with sandals walking on the treadmills to get off the equipment, so I would bring sneakers if you are really planning to use the gym.
mousey Posted February 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I think the idea about walking on the ships running path is a great idea in lieu of going to the gym. But please, don't get on a treadmill with open-toed shoes. It's too dangerous. Anyway, I've never been to a gym where they were allowed. delily Posted March 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I solve the heavy sneaker problem by not packing them -- I wear them on the plane both coming and going and pack my lighter weight shoes instead.
