Concierge lounge + upgrades on the ship

Hi everyone!

We're setting sail on the Reflection on March 29, and I can't wait! We were on the Solstice 2 years ago, and this is our first ever non-family holiday, we can't wait!

I was reading on Celebrity's website about a concierge pre-boarding lounge, and i don't remember this from our last cruise. Does anyone have any experiences with this?

Also, are non-AQ rooms ever offered the first night discount to specialty restaurants?

And finally, is it possible to get an upgrade while we're on the ship? Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm sort of interested in trying AQ due to Blu, but we really like our concierge level room we have chosen (C3, 1025).

I appreciate your thoughts!

Thanks in advance

I've never seen any kind of special lounge at check in, even for Penthouse guests. Maybe someone else has a different experience.

At times the specialty restaurants may offer a two for one special for all passengers, but it's not on all cruises. Just go to where they're taking bookings for the specialties and inquire about a discount.

Discounts on the ship are very unlikely as most cruises are going out full. On our recent Equinox cruise, they had a sign at Guest Services saying that no rooms were available. You can inquire about an upsell, where you'll pay nearly the difference between your cabin and the one you want to upgrade to, but don't count on much of anything.

We are currently sailing onboard Equinox right now. We are in a Sky Suite, and were able to board and wait in Michael's club. As far as I know this was for Suite guests and any Zenith members. They were serving some little bites and sweets there as well. We were escorted to our suite by a butler at about 12:30- 1 hour before other rooms were ready.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but as a Concierge class guest you won't be able to eat in Blu , not even for a fee. It's reserved for Aqua Class exclusively.Suite guests can eat there if there's availability. There was a 5$ fee (gratuitiy) asked for that a while ago, but I'm not sure about now.I think they waived that for the suite guests.

Concierge Class passengers get a few goodies extra ( you can see them listed on Celebrity's homepage), but there's no chance of access to Blu.

For 5 $ extra you can eat at Bistro-on-Five which offers very nice crepes and paninis.

When we cruised from Rome a couple of years ago, there was a separate area after check-in set aside for Concierge, Aqua, Suites with coffee, juice, water, danish, chocolate chip cookies, etc. to wait until boarding was open.

And no, chance to eat in Blu is for Suites only, not Concierge - above poster is correct, not Jackaboo.

When were were Concierge we just went straight to the Speciality restaurants upon boarding and asked for their best deal for the first night. We got two for one in Murano. It's worth asking anyway.

During that particular cruise we had select dining and EVERY night there were waiters from Qsine and Tuscan touting for business offering discounts.

There is a pre boarding perk but that is only a separate line, often the regular lines are shorter.

I believe the pre departure lounge you have seen is the following perk.

• A private shipboard departure lounge, serving continental breakfast

This is now worded a bit differently to avoid confusion but refers to a private loung wen you are leaving the ship on the last day.

Yes, as long as there is availability in the restaurant.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. So we can dine in Blu as well, given that we're in concierge class? Did not know that! That changes everything! Now I'm very excited :-)

No, sorry, not open for CC cabins for any $$.

Hi - We just got off Reflection last week and sailed in Concierge. When checking in they had a seperate line for us then we were sent to a seperate sitting area to wait for boarding. We boarded right after the suite and elite guests. We were on the ship by 11:30 am. For disembarkation they had us wait in the Opus Dining room on the 4th floor. There was coffee and water available. There were no special dining privilges.

Some ports have a separate waiting area after you check in. There is one in NJ. Most times you wouldnt use it as you will board almost immediately after checking in unless you get there very early and then you will probably be waiting outside the building. You will find out that most perks are nothing more than a lot of glamorized verbal fluff tha that you will not notice of miss if it wasn't there.

It is like those that are celebrating some special occassion. There are so many with those perks or celebrating something that it is almost impossible to be granted special privileges or given a real priority.

The perk that the OP is asking about is the Pre Departure Lounge at the END of the Cruise and has nothing to do with the separate lines at the beginning of the cruise. This comes up every once in awhile because it is worded poorly on the web site. Why would they serve Continental Breakfast when you are boarding the ship in FLL because that is what the wording on the web site says. Again, this perk refers to END of cruise.
