Atlantis Aquaventure Shore Excursion

Recommended Posts

Going on the Grandeur in April and have booked the Atlantis Aquaventure Shore Excursion. Could someone who has gone on this, detail the day for me.

I'm especially interested in knowing if you have to spend the whole day there,or if they offer different times to pick you up to return to the ship?

I did the "Atlantis Aquaventure full day with lunch" while on the Carnival Magic in October. The excursion was from 0830-1:30p. It went something like this-

Wait in one of the theaters and be led off the ship to wait 30 mins in the heat and crowded waiting lines for the bus. Get on the crowded bus for a short ride across the bridge to Atlantis. The "guide" then leads you thru Atlantis stopping about 5 times for everyone to catch up so he can tell you some irrelevant information. Then they give out towels, then you wait 20 mins for a locker if you want one, then you are finally free to enjoy yourself. There's so much there and we wanted to do everything we could that it was pretty rushed and not enough time. We got on almost every waterslide plus spent about 15 mins in the ocean and even had lunch somewhere in there. On our dash back to the shuttle van, we quickly walked thru "the dig" which was pretty neat. On Carnival they offered return vans every 30 mins starting a couple hours after we got there. I'd imagine Royal does the same but not sure. We caught the last van. It was a very rushed day and I wish we had a few more hours there. Just the lazy river takes about 30 mins. Hopefully you have a long time to spend there otherwise you may not get to do it all. My advice is to not do the "tour" upon arrival. Just walk off and do your thing. Once you have the wristbands, you're home free. I hope that helps.

We dud this but not through the ship and loved it. We took the water taxi to Atlantis, purchased our admission tickets then used the water park all day. Took a taxi back to the ship about an hour before sail away.

I think that we saved about $50 in total and were able to stay longer at Atlantis.

There should be a couple of representatives from Atlantis to meet you (under an Atlantis banner if it's not too windy) wearing shirts with the Atlantis logo on them near the ship gangway. They will have you sign a waiver, then issue you a wristband. They will then bring you past the Festival Place building to shuttle buses to bring you to Atlantis on Paradise Island. The shuttle will drop you off next to Marina Village, which is where you will get the shuttle back to the ship. Depending on your ship's departure, there should be 2 or more times when shuttles will be available on half hour intervals to get back to the ship.

If you wish to take alternate transportation at your own addition expense, there are taxis waiting by the Casino Entrance just beyond where the shuttle stop is. Also, there's a short walk to the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal (between the two bridges). The Ferry will bring you to Woodes Rogers Walk, Festival Place is a short walk on the same road.

Be sure to bring a credit or debit card with you if you wish to rent a locker at Atlantis or purchase food and drink at most of the venues. Go to the Atlantis website to get more info and a map. They should also provide you with a map and a towel when you arrive at Atlantis.

Enjoy Aquaventure!
