CruiseDude_83 Posted March 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2014 We tend to just stay on the ship in Nassau. We get the ship to ourselves and on our last cruise we got to enjoy the PGA tour on the large screen on the pool deck while sitting in our private hot tub! BonnieSte Posted March 4, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted March 4, 2014 If I ever go back, I will just stay on the ship. Seems to be a popular answer. What is wrong with the island?
donnad08 Posted March 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I was not at all impressed the first time I went. We took a tour of the island. Not much to see. They were just building Atlantis so we didn't even see that. I do remember the water being really pretty, so perhaps a beach day would be nice. Or we might just enjoy that gorgeous ship and maybe take advantage of some spa specials Sent from my iPhone using Forums
butterflymama Posted March 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 4, 2014 We were there 2 weeks ago. We didn't want to do any boat tours...after being on a ship for days we wanted to be on land! The timing wasn't the greatest...didn't arrive until 2pm. We took a walk over to the public beach, Junkanoo, I think it is called. We swam and had a few beers there. Then we walked to the "fish fry" area...restaurant row...and had a great dinner. then, took a taxi back to the ship. It was a great day. I only wish we could have had a full day there. We will be in Nassau on our April cruise. This will be our first time at this port. How far of a walk is it over to the Fish Fry? We would like to try the conch chowder @ Goldies. Will continue to read this thread for ideas. Thanks OP for starting it!

If you walk there and taxi back, there are plenty available. My father, a healthy 64 year old, hailed his own cab on the way LOL...He preferred not to walk in a wet bathing suit:eek:
2calgarycruisers Posted March 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted March 4, 2014 We are only in port until 2:30pm and I had considered Atlantis, but the price is hefty for a short period of time. Anyone snorkeled? Can you do it from shore or are there good tours?
cb at sea Posted March 4, 2014 #18 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I stay on the ship...it's not a favorite port. However, we were there until 2 am MANY years ago, so after dinner, we headed to Atlantis to gamble in a real casino! It happened to be formal night, so we were all dolled up....it was fun! Blue Lagoon Island has dolphin and sea lion encounters or you can get a beach day and snorkel or just hang on the beach, they also have food and drinks there too. We did the dolphin encounter and it was worth every penny.

Be sure you take #10, not #10A, else you will take a long tour. Edited March 4, 2014 by clarea
