Nassau

I was not at all impressed the first time I went. We took a tour of the island. Not much to see. They were just building Atlantis so we didn't even see that. I do remember the water being really pretty, so perhaps a beach day would be nice. Or we might just enjoy that gorgeous ship and maybe take advantage of some spa specials

We were there 2 weeks ago.

We didn't want to do any boat tours...after being on a ship for days we wanted to be on land!

The timing wasn't the greatest...didn't arrive until 2pm.

We took a walk over to the public beach, Junkanoo, I think it is called. We swam and had a few beers there.

Then we walked to the "fish fry" area...restaurant row...and had a great dinner. then, took a taxi back to the ship.

It was a great day. I only wish we could have had a full day there.

We will be in Nassau on our April cruise. This will be our first time at this port. How far of a walk is it over to the Fish Fry? We would like to try the conch chowder @ Goldies. Will continue to read this thread for ideas. Thanks OP for starting it!

Now this sounds like a great idea, thanks! You're welcome Novalab. We are traveling with 2 island virgins and would like them to experience one. :)

I would guess about a half an hour.

A taxi will cost $4us per person.

If you walk there and taxi back, there are plenty available.

My father, a healthy 64 year old, hailed his own cab on the way LOL...He preferred not to walk in a wet bathing suit:eek:

I stay on the ship...it's not a favorite port. However, we were there until 2 am MANY years ago, so after dinner, we headed to Atlantis to gamble in a real casino! It happened to be formal night, so we were all dolled up....it was fun!

Do they call it Blue lagoon Island because of the movie? Do you go to sit on the beach or snorkel? Thanks for your reply!

Blue Lagoon Island has dolphin and sea lion encounters or you can get a beach day and snorkel or just hang on the beach, they also have food and drinks there too. We did the dolphin encounter and it was worth every penny.

#10jitney is a bus? Does it pick up at port ?

Yes, the Jitney is the bus. You can pick up #10 in front of McDonalds. Be sure you take #10, not #10A, else you will take a long tour.
