Jewel, S. Caribbean OR Freedom, W.Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Were looking into two cruises and are unsure as to which one to choose.

Jewel of the Seas with stops in St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Aruba, and Curacao.

OR

Freedom of the Seas with stops in Labadee, Falmouth, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.

Like Jewel's ports, but it is before the Jewel's refurb so we were a little worried about that.

Which would you choose?

I'd choose Jewel and the ports. I was on her last May. She may have a little wear, but she's in good shape.

If you're sailing for the ports, choose Jewel.

If you're sailing for the ship, I haven't been on Freedom yet, but I'd lean toward Freedom.

I have been on both ships for both itineraries. If you are going for the ship, the Freedom has more to do.

We were on the Jewel in October and I loved that cruise. The ports were wonderful. I especially liked the southern ports, Aruba and Curaçao. I actually enjoyed the Jewel quite a bit. The food was good, the service was very good, the solarium is very nice. We really liked the cruise director Karly. The Jewel is a little worn, but she is still a beautiful ship. We went with our daughter and family. The kids enjoyed the kids club but there weren't very many kids on that cruise so they were a little disappointed that they weren't able to make friends. But they had a good time anyway.

If you have kids they might enjoy the Freedom more.

It all depends on what you are looking for..

I have been on both ships. I would definitely do the Jewel because of the ship and the ports. Don't forget to go to the Sea Cafe on the Jewel.

There is really no question for us, the Southern ports are the best choice as we do not feel safe in Jamaica; haiti is just a beach day at a limited beach and if two ships are in port, a very crowded beach; and we dont really like either coast of mexico (yes we have done them both, carib more than once).

Ditto to why/what you are cruising for, ship or ports.
