IECalCruiser Posted March 28, 2015 #26 Share Posted March 28, 2015 Haven't been on the CB but had the crab shack on the Grand and the Crown. The grand had snow crab while the crown had king crab. On the Grand we were able to get a second order of the snow crab, skipping the shrimp. On the Crown we were full after the first pot and didn't need seconds. We enjoyed both meals and felt it was worth it.
jackieo Posted March 28, 2015 #27 Share Posted March 28, 2015 We have experienced the Crab Shack three times since it started. once on the Island Princess in the buffet area. On the Royal last October also in the buffet area. Then just recently on the Star Princess where the Crab Shack took over Sabetini's for four separate nights over our 15 day cruise to host this. We have always had great food and thoroughly enjoyed our experiences.
Daniel1313 Posted March 28, 2015 #28 Share Posted March 28, 2015 It took 2 hours to get our meal. I would hate to wait another 2 hours if I wanted another cluster of crab legs. Still the worst meal I have had on a Princess ship.
coops Posted March 28, 2015 #29 Share Posted March 28, 2015 I sure do miss when they had crab legs split open in the buffet. Now those were excellent.

aquilegia Posted March 28, 2015 #31 Share Posted March 28, 2015 We're on CB later this year. I'd love to try the Crab Shack but OH doesn't eat seafood. Does Horizon Court operate the night they have Crab Shack and, if so, do you think it would be OK to get his food from the buffet and bring it into Cafe Caribe to eat with me? TexEm Posted March 28, 2015 #32 Share Posted March 28, 2015 We were on a 5 day cruise on the CB in October and ate at the Crab Shack. It was only offered one night in the very aft section of Cafe Caribe. I think it was on the second night of the cruise. It wasn't full, and it took well over 2 hours for the four of us. There was way too much food, but you could have seconds if you wanted. Excellent service!
Jo and Rob Posted May 19, 2015 #33 Share Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Here is the menu from the Caribbean Princess It was offered on Wednesday, Belize evening, from 6 PM to 10 PM. What are hushpuppies? In the UK they are a type of shoe so clearly this is lost in translation. While I'm at it what is popcorn shrimp? I love lobster and am not that familiar with crab beyond the Cromer Crab. Recommendations please. Is the Crab shack on all Princess ships? I've never heard of it before. Rare Murray's Pop Posted May 19, 2015 #37 Share Posted May 19, 2015 I know that lots of folks rave about it. We had it on the Star last month and thought it was terrible. Poor service as well. I guess we had a bad night.
msmoger Posted May 19, 2015 #38 Share Posted May 19, 2015 We had it on the CB in April and it was very good, as was the service. I don't think 2 hours for a nice dinner is too long, but of course everybody will make their on call. The quality of the crab was good, no complaints. Was it as good as a seaside restaurant in Alaska or New England? Probably not, but we have realistic expectations.
SadieN Posted May 19, 2015 #39 Share Posted May 19, 2015 Went to it in the Grand. Lots of food. Some was very good, most was mediocre. Worst part of the meal was that several waiters, including the Head Waiter, telling Mom that the unopened clam in the chowder was ok to eat. Shouldn't have been served. Rare geoherb Posted May 19, 2015 #40 Share Posted May 19, 2015 Please don't judge hushpuppies by what Princess calls hushpuppies. They were the worst ones I've ever had. The popcorn shrimp turned out to be regular size fried shrimp. The rest of our meal was great.
