beachdiamonds Posted March 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) We had 1688 on our last 9 day cruise on Explorer. Of course its not available on our next sailing. :( We have a choice of the following aft cabin and associated balconies. Which would you choose and why? Cabins 7688 8692 9392 Note that there will be just 2 of us. Also I have looked at voyager-class.com but wanted others opinions as well. Thanks! knittinggirl Posted March 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2014 All seem to have the passenger deck below and above, which is my qualification. If you like the library, then pick deck 7. I wouldn't pick deck 9 unless you qualify for the concierge lounge. With tablets, the internet cafe on deck 8 isn't as critical. On Navigator, it had been converted into a cafe/art show. Cigar King Posted March 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2014 We prefer 7692. It's quiet, has the massive balcony, and the 7th floor is centrally located. (I like to take the stairs if possible) So, based on your list, I would take 8692. Enjoy your cruise.
Sass4 Posted March 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2014 We booked an Aft on Explorer for next March. What was your experence with that Suite?

Did you get a fair amount of sun on deck 7 balcony? 7688 has the huge balcony and huge port hole window. I just want to be sure that we get some sun as it appears the higher you go up the more sun your balcony gets.

Life is Good Cruising Posted March 5, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 5, 2014 I also agree with 7688, huge balcony. You can also try to see if 1388, 1690 or 1390 are available.
debshomespun Posted March 5, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 5, 2014 We had this cabin on Explorer to Bermuda, and the balcony is larger than the cabin. We loved it! Definitely a piece of prime real estate for this class of ships!!

In fact, it might even be a plus. One other thing we like is there is not a lot of wind when the ship is moving. FWIW, this is the only cabin that we will have had on multiple ships...Explorer and Adventure.
Cigar King Posted March 5, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 5, 2014 Here of some photos of the balcony of 9392 I thought all the dividers were solid on the Explorer?

Cigar King Posted March 6, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 6, 2014 Must be a senior moment...I thought they were all steel. I like the glass better...I'll be there next week so now it's even nicer. ;-)
