Will we make our return train at 0940?

We are sailing on the Inspiration on 8/15 and Amtrak changed our departing time from 12:30 pm to 9:40 am. The station is just a few miles from the Tampa port, but I am not sure we will make it. Should I just plan on staying an extra day in Tampa or do you think we can make the 9:40 a.m. train?

It all depends.............When we got off the Inspiration the "self-assist" people who hauled ALL their luggage off themselves were able to leave at 7:30am, we had a 11:40a flight and left at 8:30, by the time we got a shuttle it was 9am.

 

If the ship is held for any reason you will probably not make it.

Its possible that you could make it, but very risky. Any hold up such as foreign nationals not reporting to immigration or people not paying their bill could cause disembarkation to be delayed for an hour or more.

There's no way anyone can know ahead of time. It all depends on customs and immigration. There are certainly no assurances. You might want to seriously consider Plan B.

I would plan on staying an extra day, book a hotel room you can cancel and head over to the station to try to catch the train. Trains have a way of running late :) So that 9:40 train might not arrive in Tampa until 11-12
