So I'm still fairly new to Cruise Critic...can someone please let me know what all the abbreviations mean? I've read several, but have not been able to figure out what they mean. For example...TA, DH, DS, etc. Thanks for the help!

TA is travel agent

Ships are often abbreviated to the first letter of their main name plus OS for "of the seas" for example EOS is Explorer of the Seas.

Welcome!

Welcome!

Sometimes those abbreviations don't always work as well as one would hope! :)

What a coincidence, I was just reading the P and O UK site and came across the term...SWIMBO.......

Now I have never seen that, so Googled it and it stands for......

"She who must be obeyed ".......which is odd as where has the I gone.......:-)

From other sites I've been on:

TNSTAAFL - there's no such thing as a free lunch

IANAL - I am not a lawyer

Meanwhile, the often-used three-letter abbreviations for the ships are often less than clear and useful. :)

AOS = Allure of the Seas, or Adventure of the Seas, or soon Anthem of the Seas

EOS = Explorer of the Seas, or Enchantment of the Seas

LOS = Legend of the Seas, or Liberty of the Seas

MOS = Mariner of the Seas, or Majesty of the Seas

ROS = Rhapsody of the Sea, or Radiance of the Seas

SOS = Serenade of the Seas, or Splendour of the Seas

VOS = Vision of the Seas, or Voyager of the Seas

Welcome to cruise critic. There is actually a list in the FAQ section of cruise critic that has a very extensive list of all the abbreviations that are common. You will find that some people make up their own as they go and you might have to ask what they are talking about.

Here is a link for you to the list.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/faq.php?faq=vb3_reading_posting#faq_acronyms

You will also see people use the two letter abbreviation for the ships since some of them start with the same letter. The two letter abbreviations make it much easier since they are unique to each ship.

Maybe the explanation was wrong and it should have been, "she who, instantly, must be obeyed".:D
