Looking for feedback on this excursion. Very costly but something my kids ages 11 and 9 would love. Did you feel it was worth it? Is it too adventurous? My hubby and kids are dare devils but I am a wimp. I wouldn't do the slides but is the not so lazy river scary? Also son is 47 inches and hoping he'll just make it by summer time. Are they strict with height requirements ? Thanks for your help!

We are also looking at the Atlantis for our upcoming cruise. It is pricey but I figure it is a one time thing for our family, so why not. (right? haha) We are thinking more of doing the dolphin encounter than the waterpark. Having said that though we have been to some big waterparks and the lazy river is a quiet relaxing drift along the water.

My wife and I went on this in Jan 2013 and enjoyed ourselves. I don't do heights, but still found plenty to do. 3/4 of the lazy river is calm and just a slow flow around the circuit. The other 1/4 is a set of rapids that may not be for the faint of heart. That said, you can get out and walk around this section as there are exit points all around it.

The lazy river is fun, slow, and for all ages. The slides are insane. I saw small kids go on with no problem but then saw older kids and even adults a little afraid to go on. I face danger every day for my job but I am honest enough to admit I was afraid of the Leap of Faith slide. I almost got cold feet in the line. But I did it. By far the most intense slides anywhere I have been.

Go for it. Hopefully you are on a ship that gets to spend a full day in Nassau. We went on the Sky and had a full day. Not sure how it is worth it with the late arrivers to Nassau.

We went to the Atlantis, it was terrific!! the grounds, aquarium, pools, beach, slides, rides..... all worth it for the day. A beautiful place to spend the day and the kids had THE BEST time! Be cautious of the lunch. Lunch for 4 could be around $60. When we went it was cheaper to book a hotel room at the Comfort Suites, the hotel next door then buy 4 day passes at the Atlantis. Check out how much a room is for the night you will be in Nassau, it might end up being cheaper.

Last May NCL had a special running for the aqua adventure and dolphin encounter so we bought it.

We were there the first week of May. It was not crowded at all. We got there at a little after 9. The water stuff wasn't open until 10am (sharp). We got a locker $12, I think. We hung out in the pool until 10am.

We did the lazy river. It was me and my 7year old in a double tube. My cousin and my 4 year old in another double tube and my 12 yo niece alone. My cousin and son flipped their tube on the rapids. My cousin hit her head pretty hard on the side trying to keep my son from going under.

My niece and I rode about half of the slides the rest of the afternoon. Some very awesome and some were VERY scary to me (I'm a chicken). My niece thought it was great.

My kids and I shared a soda and a quesadilla, I think it was about $15- they don't take cash.

The dolphin encounter was not worth it in my opinion- it was short ands we stood in ankle deep water and touched them and got a kiss. The one in Cozumel was better.

Five of us did the Atlantis ½ day in 2011. We were all very happy with the excursions. Ages were 18 through 56. Slides were fun (especially the one that takes you through the shark tank, yes live sharks). The tube ride with the up hill parts was a lot of fun as well. We feel we all got good value for our money.

We did this excursion in December and loved it! Then again, we are water park fans. The lazy river is not so lazy, which we loved! Water slides were pretty good... It was fun going through that inner tube with the sharks! Did not bother checking out the aquarium, we can do that in NYC. It was crazy expensive, but apparently slightly cheaper due to the time of year we went. For us, we really loved having access to the beach-- the water was amazing and not too crowded (at least not at the edge). Spent about 45 minutes there just to say we've done it. Be warned of lots of walking (huge property), wayyyyyy overpriced food, and that not every person working there will be helpful. We encountered 6 service people and the first two were totally useless, had us walking around for 20 minutes looking for the locker rentals. Anyway, I'd never spend so much money to stay on property, so it was worth it to me as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If your kids love waterparks, they will enjoy it :)

We took a walk through the aquarium. It was neat and worth the time to walk through it if you like aquariums.

Just to clarify on the shark tank....yes, there are live sharks. You're separated from them by a clear tube. Perfectly safe....:)

I'd make my decision based on your ds's height. We've been twice, and had a great time (in November with low crowds). Just know the park layout before you go. We went with NCL (since it was off season, the price was great), and ditched the tour as soon as we saw the sign for aqua adventure. We found chairs, and swam in the pool, and started using the slides right at 10. The lazy river is not lazy in parts - make sure your kids know to tuck their heads in if they get close to the sides. I saw a few people get tossed by their tubs, or scrap the wall. I got a bruise from the conveyor belt.

The beach is great - if it's open. It closes frequently due to a rough tide.

It worth every overpriced penny! The grounds are beautiful, slides a great, and the aquarium is out of this world! Like the other posters mentioned there is a lot of walking and the food can be overpriced.

Looked into renting a room at Comfort Suites, which gives you passes to Atlantis, for our trip in June it would be $279 plus taxes and fees it comes to $371.96 for 2 so it really didn't seem to be saving us any money~ not sure if you could get more free passes to Atlantis or if you'd have to pay for more people in the room

I believe it was between 130-150 a person for access to the whole place. At work and don't have access to my cruise PDFs.

I will be going to the aquaventure excursion with my 7 & 5 yr olds. Will there be enough for us to do if we skip the slides since I will be the only adult & I don't feel comfortable sending my one child down the slide or having my other wait alone while I accompany the other. Will it be a waste of my money if we are not doing the slides?

We enjoyed spending the day at the water park on our cruise on the Sky last May.

We also took advantage of the discounted entry special that they were running at that time.

That said, I would NEVER participate in this again through the ships shore excursion dept. We would do it on our own.

The line up outside the ship to get your wrist band and then escort to a bus to the resort was one of the biggest boondoggles I have ever seen.

Imagine 1/3 - 1/2 of the ships passengers lined up in an endless slow moving cue that went the entire length of the dock area and about 3/4th the length of the ship. Over 1,5 hours in line!

If you are going, get a cab, save yourself the hassle and enjoy more time in the park.

We went to Atlantis on a cruise when my kids were 6 and 7, so they were certainly not big enough to do all of the slides. But they did many, and they loved it. 9 and 11 is a perfect age to go. There are things to do for all age and adventure levels.

It is very safe to take a taxi to Atlantis - we've done it several times, and you will likely share a van with others. And there are always taxis there waiting to take you back to the ship when you are done.

As far as a single parent taking a 5 and 7 yo to the waterpark, there are many pools there to have fun in, and the lazy river, but honestly I would not spend the money if you are skipping the slides. There are other hotels in the Bahamas that sell day passes that you could go to (Check out the ports of call board).

The Comfort Suites option seems to work best for families of four as far as cost savings. It's a bit of an extra hassle, but it wasn't too bad (you check in and out at the same time, and walk right across the street to Atlantis to get your wristbands).

As many have said, the lazy river is not so lazy in parts. I didn't know this & found out the hard way when I took a tumble on the tube & later realized I had lost my locker key off of my wrist during the tumble. Because we were not able to find the key, I had to pay an additional $50 for the locker. Other than that, I thought the Atlantis was a fun day!

Also, when we did a dolphin swim in Nassau we went to Blue Lagoon Island instead of Atlantis & really enjoyed it there!

It is for sure more expensive than what we paid, which was $98pp. This is 3rd week of December, mind you. I found out the comfort inn thing was around $120pp maybe. And we had to spend around $10 on a small locker for the two of us.

Another thing to note is that we needed a credit card-- they would not take cash at some places! I believe we paid for photos with cash, and maybe for Starbucks, but I distinctly remember needing a credit card for my locker and food purchase.
