mauimacho Posted March 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2014 What happens if your on board expenses are less than your OBC?
dag144 Posted March 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2014 You would lose the remainder of the credit. However, remember the OBC will be applied to your entire bill including the daily $11.50pp for the staff. If you really have a large credit, I had $500 once, HAL was happy to split the credit which I arranged prior to departure. Have fun.
jtl513 Posted March 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) It depends on the source of the OBC. Any excess purchased by yourself or your friends/family/TA is refunded, in cash. OBC given by HAL or Carnival Corp for any reason is non-refundable. If you have excess OBC that is non-refundable there's three things you can do: 1) Go to the casino, put your key-card in a slot machine, and charge money against your on-board account. Cash-out of the machine, then take your card to the cage and cash out. I think the limit is $300 per day, but we've only done $200 so I'm not positive about that amount. No fee is charged. 2) Go to the Front Desk and take a cash advance. There is a 3% fee, but at least you get to keep 97% of it. 3) Increase your Hotel Service Charge so that it at least goes to the crew rather than HAL. If it is strictly something the cruise line grants, like stockholder's OBC, yes, you would lose it. However, if it is your money, like a refunded canceled excursion OBC, you will get that back on the credit card involved.

realnurse2 Posted March 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2014 I have been offered a refund the last 4 cruises when my credit from stockholder dividends has been less than my on-board expenses. Not a whole lot so not likely to put HAL into a financial crisis, but still cash back.
