robntawn Posted July 27, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2005 We want to explore Stanley Park the morning of our cruise. We are staying at the Pan Pacific, so my thought was to get up early and watch the Volendam dock, then have a leisurely breakfast and go to Stanley Park before embarkation. The first option involves renting a bicycle and doing the seawall trail, which strats at 10:00 and ends at 11:30. The other option is the horse drawn carriage tour from 0900-1000, with a free shuttle back to Canadian Place. Either option enables us to get onboard by 12:30, which is our goal. Any thoghts as to which option is best? Thanks!!!:)
Cruise Junky Posted July 27, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2005 You could just walk around the seawall. That way you don't have any time restrictions. If you're in reasonable shape you can walk the seawall in 1hour 45 min. Why the time restriction on the bikes? Can you just rent them anytime and go around the seawall? robntawn Posted July 27, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted July 27, 2005 CJ, The times that I gave for the bike rental involve an organized tour w/ commentary. I thoght that would be nice since I don't know anything about Stanley Park.
robntawn Posted July 27, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted July 27, 2005 ...and apparently I was an hour off on the bike tour. It's throgh "Spokes" at the entrance to Stanley Park...starts at 0900 and ends at 1030. Sounds fun and informative. http://www.vancouverbikerental.com/tours.html
Cruise Junky Posted July 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2005 It would be ok to do a tour, but the real beauty of Stanley Park is just to walk around and appreciate the natural beauty.
Dolphins Posted July 27, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2005 We had planned to rent bikes and ride around Stanley Park during our last visit to Vancouver. Unfortunately, it rained all day. Something you might want to consider before you commit to an organized tour. Better to see how the weather will be and go on your own.
Baxter Posted August 5, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2005 Being Canadian, we're too cheap to pay those inflated prices for rentals and tours....we just walked and enjoyed it entirely
