time2cruise1 Posted December 5, 2015 #6726 Share Posted December 5, 2015 If your account is entirely set up in cash, you are still charged this fee. It isn't a credit card fee. It's a fee paid to NCL for the convenience of withdrawing cash from your shipboard account. The main reason that started it was to avoid abuse. CC posts started a run on cash from the casino from non gamblers. That would get 1000s just for the points on their credit cards. Take the cash home and pay off the balance. This was a huge problem with the old NCL card where you got 4 points for every dollar spent with NCL. texangal39 Posted December 5, 2015 #6727 Share Posted December 5, 2015 Got a survey from NCL about my cruise on the Escape. I've just completed it and wondered if anyone else has done the survey?
LrgPizza Posted December 5, 2015 #6728 Share Posted December 5, 2015 Got a survey from NCL about my cruise on the Escape. I've just completed it and wondered if anyone else has done the survey? texangal39 Posted December 5, 2015 #6729 Share Posted December 5, 2015 I got one after the TA cruise. I also got one after either my Epic or Getaway cruises, can't remember which. I did tell them we didn't like that the lunch hours were limited (12pm-1:30pm) at Food Republic & Pincho Tapas -- the window was so short it took real planning to be able to eat there for lunch. Also, due to posted hours or crowding, if you weren't careful, you would be forced to eat at the Buffet or O' Sheehan's when you really had other ideas -- kind of killing the freestyle concept. But, I have to say, it wasn't so much of an issue that we will never get over it or that it ruined our vacation -- I mean hey, it's vacation! Soot = nada. zero. zilch. missing in action. .
bcolli Posted December 6, 2015 #6732 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Could anyone who has returned from an Escape cruise comment on the overnight accumulation of soot on the aft-facing balconies? Yes. We had soot on our day facing balcony some mornings. This also happened last year on the Breakaway. Not a lot, but enough that we learned to wipe down our loungers before laying on them in the morning.
CalLuvsCrusingToo Posted December 6, 2015 #6733 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Hi texangal, No survey here. Maybe they Don't want to know? To be honest, I spent too much time at Cust. Serv. daily..... Trying to resolve issues. UDP, etc. And this is the first cruise where we Never got a Towel animal on our bed. Our Cabin steward was very timid. He didn't seem to want to engage anyone. Funny thing I found one of the "eyes" you know those Dots, that they put on the towel animals in our bathroom. So I KNOW he must have done some, somewhere.....but never in Our room. Odd. Seemed less storage in our balcony cabin than in other NCL ships weve been on. I did like the Refrig thou. You could actually put some of your own water bottles in there. I keep remembering things as I read others reviews.......
rg24601 Posted December 6, 2015 #6734 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Seems like the majority of reviews are still quite brutal. Service and food and lines and reservations for everything.
Crusin-Suzan Posted December 6, 2015 #6735 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Just off the Escape on an aft balcony. We had no complains and a great time!!! Only place we had problems getting in to eat was Le Bistro. But there was 10 of us. We did get in when we did 4 tho. We did have some soot on our balcony but not enough to complain about. We were on 9. We do like some drawers in the cabin and there were none. Need a junk drawer just like at home!!, Going back in Feb in same cabin!!! rob&tam Posted December 6, 2015 #6736 Share Posted December 6, 2015 We too are just off the Escape. We had a fabulous time and we can not convey how important " the vibe " was towards our enjoyment. There were things I wish were different but honestly they were overcome by truly attentive NCL staff and a great ship.

joelle6667 Posted December 6, 2015 #6739 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Do you think the Haven pool will be 5' feet deep? Oh man I hope so. Also if we brought a ball to the pool would we be allowed to use it? We would only do it at times when next to no one was there. Early early morning or evening. The reason why I ask is my DD plays water polo and she will need to train a bit. She would rather do it in the pool than the gym. Putting my flame resistance suit on. Yes I know its a vacation, yes I know she is just a kid (14). When you play at her level you can not take a week off without having it effect your play and she will be in the middle of her season. with a very important camp just a few weeks after we get back. I would have to think training would have to be very early for there to be an empty pool area .. Either in the main pool or Haven area. I am being complety honest with you. I have two young adult children and elderly parents I will be cruising with 1/9 haven suites and if I were relaxing by the pool while one was trying to practice with a ball flying back in fourth in such a small pool area I would be bothered. I am not one to complain and would most likely leave the area if it was that bothersome but I try not to let much get in my way of a great vacation .. I would have to agree with other posters. I've been on several cruises and whether it be a spoken or unspoken rule, no one generally uses pool toys / equipment in the pools. The few times I've seen it happen, it prevents others from enjoying the pool which isn't really fair. Even if the pool is empty at the time, as people gather in the area, they may feel uncomfortable getting in with someone tossing around a ball. I would error on the side of being considerate of your fellow passengers.
dgreensp Posted December 6, 2015 #6741 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Saw this on Facebook Group: For those with UDP, it IS included for unlimited use there and there is no up charge. Is this true if you have the 7 day UDP that Margarittaville is no charge?

Is this true if you have the 7 day UDP that Margarittaville is no charge? Maybe you are confusing UDP with SDP. UDP is no longer offered -- it was available as a promotion or purchase. It's for the whole length of the cruise. SDP is by number of meals 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7. People are reporting that with UDP, it's no charge. With SDP, you use up one of your meals. Do yourself a favor.... use your SDP for a nice dinner at Cagneys instead.

barnacle_boy Posted December 6, 2015 #6747 Share Posted December 6, 2015 Pool Depths: Haven — Uniform 3 ft. 11 in. Adult Main — Uniform 5 ft. 3 in. Children Main — Varies from 3 ft. 4 in. to 4 ft. 1 in. The main pools are usually quiet early in the morning. Still, I wouldn't count on being able to do water-polo practice everyday. luvdznee Posted December 6, 2015 #6748 Share Posted December 6, 2015 We arrived yesterday as well. We had a great time. Spent many hours at the Wine Cellars and absolutely loooooved Food Republic. We had four dinners and three lunches there. We were fortunate to stay in the Haven and had access to the Haven Restaurant, which is wonderful, but we still chose Food Republic most days. That is how much we loved it! Also, spent quite a bit of time at Sugarcane Bar enjoying the delicious mojitos and chatting with other passengers at the bar. We met many nice people. I came down with a cold on Thursday and was feeling rather lousy by Friday night and was very disappointed we really could not enjoy our last night on the ship. But all in all we had a terrific and relaxing, vacation. I am ready to go back! :)
