Is it just Cagney's that we can eat at during lunch/breakfast? (suite)

August will be our first time in a suite. I hear that we can dine in Cagney's for breakfast and lunch. My husband said he read somewhere that we can dine in any of the "pay" restaurants. I don't think so. I believe (from what I've read anyway) that it's just Cagney's.

SO who's right?

Did you book your suite during the promotion where you receive the ultimate dining & beverage package? If so, then you could go to any of them for free.

I don't believe he booked during that promo. When did they offer that?

No. You can dine in any restaurant that is open on the cruise ship to the rest of the passengers. Cagney's for breakfast and lunch is just added to you as an extra bonus for being in a suite.

It was the beginning of March. We were previously booked in a mini suite and had been talking about possibly getting the ultimate beverage package. When I saw they were having a promotion for suites that you would receive the ultimate dining package and the ultimate beverage package we changed our room to the haven courtyard penthouse.

Cagney's for breakfast and lunch, but it's my understanding that you can also be served food out by the pool (in the Haven) as well.

I'm not sure about the newest ships, but I believe only Cagneys (Il Adagio on the Sun) is the only specialty restaurant open for breakfast and lunch.

Cagney's for breakfast & lunch. Any of the others you would have to pay the per person charge, but I don't believe they are open for breakfast or lunch anyway. You can also eat in the haven.

Cagney's or any other restaurant (such as an MDR or the buffet) that is open for breakfast or lunch at no charge to any passenger.

There is no Haven on their ship...and even of there were, not all suites have Haven privileges on ships built prior to the Epic.

Thanks for your replies.

I guess I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I heard that one of the perks for suite guests were that they could eat breakfast and lunch in Cagney's (included in price). My husband said to me that he thought we could eat in other "pay" restaurants during breakfast and lunch as a suite perk also but I told him that I believe it's just Cagney's.

I realize we can eat at other restaurants that are open during that time (breakfast and lunch) or the buffet, but I'm looking for which restaurant is included as a suite perk.

Thanks again.

Most specialty restaurants are not open for breakfast or lunch. I can only think of Teppanyaki and noodle bar open for lunch. But you would pay for that too. Short answer to your question is that no other restaurant is included in the suite perk. However, you can get hot food room service for all meals and have specialty restaurants deliver dinner to your cabin. But you would pay for that too ;)

The promo was only for Breakaway and Getaway - so no ships that serve suite breakfast or lunch in Cagney's were eligble for the promo.

Great thanks. I knew others were open but I just wanted to show my husband that it was just Cagney's that was included in the suite perks.

It's easier if you don't think that Cagney's is included as a suite perk because it isn't. Cagney's is only used on some ships as a venue for suite breakfast and lunch - just like Haven restaurant is used on newer ships.

Speciality dining in Cagney's steakhouse is completely different thing and should not be mixed with suite perks. :)

Good answer

I agree 100%. Last week I was taking incoming fire for suggesting that while Cagneys and Epic Club is an awesome suite perk for breakfast and lunch, it is not a specialty restaurant for breakfast and lunch. The steak you get for lunch is not the same for dinner, etc. But some really don't believe that but to each their own. Thank you for your post though.

David - when you were on the Epic, could you eat outside by the pool? Or did you have to actually go in the restaurant to get breakfast and lunch?

Answer:

The Epic has the Epic Club and Epic Grill (sort of outside restaurant). You can get anything from either restaurant delivered anywhere at the Haven pool, Posh, or your cabin. There are not tables and chairs by the pool like the Breakaway and Getaway. The tables and chairs nearest the pool are at the Epic Grill which is only a few steps away through the automatic glass sliding door. The newer ships don't have this "grill" area. But you can bring food to the pool or have it delivered if you want to eat there. You can use smaller tables there. But the restaurant outdoor tables are in the Epic Grill.

Epic Haven pool area

Another great perk of the Epic Grill area..... juice, coffee, tea, gummy bears, snacks all day long. This is where I would make my fresh brewed iced tea. Make a cup of hot tea and pour over ice :)

We will be in a penthouse on the Star in 12 days.

Only Cagney's is available to us for breakfast and lunch, free.

Pat

Correct - sort of. The other "speciality" restaurants are not even open.

You can also eat in MDR, Buffet, etc. like everyone else.

You may find this list that cruise critic member waldospepper has assembled to be very useful. Many thanks to waldospepper for all the hard work.

Here are a few tips to help you sort out the different types/levels of suites on NCL. Perks come with all full suite accommodations. Mini-suites do not fall into that category. Any stateroom category that starts with an "S" is considered a full suite.

1.) Some ships are equipped with a Haven, and some are not. Ships that are equipped with a Haven will have two levels of suite: Haven suites and non-Haven suites. Haven Suites are designated by the letter "S" followed by a number. Non-Haven Suites are designated by the letter "S" followed by a letter.

2) Haven suites have access to the Haven regardless of where they are situated on the ship. The Haven has its own pool, hot tub, sauna, and sundeck. Some Haven's also have a retractable roof over the central area.

3.) The Haven suites on Epic and the new-builds coming soon also have several other private areas as well.

4.) All suites have access to a private restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

5.) All suites have Butler and Concierge service.

6.) All suites receive invitations to a special cocktail reception with the Captain and other Officers.

7.) All suites receive priority embarkation and disembarkation, as well as priority tendering.

8.) All suites receive Sparkling Wine and fresh flowers in their suite, along with treats delivered daily by the Butler. (Note: Garden Villas, Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites receive Champagne instead of Sparkling Wine)

9.) Garden Villa's receive 6 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water, while Deluxe Owner's Suites and Owner's Suites each receive 3 bottles of alcohol with unlimited mixers, soda and water.

10.) All suites are provided with a variety of Elemis brand toiletries.

11.) All suites are equipped with a Coffee/Cappuccino/Espresso Machine (Most are Lavazza pod-style machines, except Jewel which has Senseo machines which grind/brew, and the Sun which has Lavazza machines in the Owner’s Suites, but drip-style coffee brewers in all other suites.

12.) All suites have access to the Pre-Cruise Concierge service, which helps to coordinate your individual selections on pillow types, coffee and tea preferences, and a variety of special requests.

13.) All suites (except the new suites on Deck 12 of the Star) have a portable phone which can be used throughout the ship.

14.) All suites are equipped with the "Bliss Bed" which truly lives up to its name.

15 All suites have an expanded Room Service menu.
