which cruise RCI Vison V's Celebrity Infinity

Recommended Posts

OK we are trying to decide between Celebrity Infinity - st croix - st barts- san Juan- Haiti or RCI Vision- Haiti- Curacao- Aruba-Cayman.

We are a couple in our mid 40's and have only cruised twice before on Carnival

The legend - new year with our dd's 15yr and 20yrs. ( chosen as dates suited school hols and we could get to get to cayman to see my new born nice:))

The Valor - just me and my DH (chosen last minute as our planned holiday got canceled and need to fit already booked holiday dates and budget)

What we enjoyed on carnival

The vibe on the cruise from San Juan- watching all the people salsa dancing and the atmosphere they created.

I thought the gluten free food on the Valor was great no so good on the legend

The Service was good on in the MDR on the Valor

Shows were mixed - some good some dire

Our girls loved the legend esp the teen club for my youngest (although I had to wonder about some of the parents who seemed to both hardly see their children and also allowed them to roam un-escorted day and NIGHT!)

What we disliked-

Some of the music on deck especially on the legend- and the volume or should I say VOLUME !!

The silly games/ entertainment on the pool deck- not for us at all! - Butlins at sea!!

The comedy show- We mistakenly went to an adults show thinking that at worst it would be a little risky - I walked out - it was racist and disgusting.

The most important aspects to us

Food- quality, pretension also gluten free food options

Shows- professional type stuff - not Haven or Butlins.

Atmosphere- don't want spring break stuff but also want fun and good vibe

Which would suit best- both are the same price but the celebrity includes the drinks package in that price-thanks for any help.

Which itinerary appeals to you more? That can be very important.

The drink package that Celebrity is offering is a very nice perk. It is now also a new year round perk of booking future cruises on board.

I just came back from my second cruise on Celebrity and they have firmly taken first place as my first choice with RCI second. I have found that food is better across the board on Celebrity. Service is about equal but officers are very out and about on Celebrity stopping to speak with guests.

Entertainment on both ships will be about the same. Celebrity does not have the pool games other than the officers verses guests pool volleyball game. No belly flop, etc. also only one announcement per day on Celebrity which is the Captains/Cruise Directors update. Dress code on Celebrity is followed much more closely on Celebrity.

You will find that Celebrity is a little more relaxed. You will also find less kids on board Celebrity. Both are good options but I prefer Celebrity. If you have not done so I suggest posting this on the Celebrity board.

I've been on both ships and if it were me I would pick Celebrity Infinity.

Determining which cruise you would depend on the overall "cruise experience" you desire. If you want activities such as belly flop contests, rock climbing, and kid friendly surroundings then RCL may be the better choice. If you like a more personal experience, Celebrity may be for you.We returned from the Vision yesterday and the refurb of the ship was beautiful and the staff was friendly. That is where my positive experience ended. The food was not good - the buffett was very poor quality and presentation. We felt the need to eat at the speciality restaurants to get a good dinner. We have sailed Celebrity ( 2 yrs ago so things may have changed) but not on the Infinity. We found the little personal touches on Celebrity such as hand scooped ice cream, cold towels upon return to the ship, and fresh food stations on the buffett to be touches we appreciated. Good luck in your decision and enjoy your trip!
