Has anyone had a problem with mosquitos? Do I need to wear long pants and long sleeve shirt. And put on repellant with DEET?

IMO long pants and long sleeve shirt is not necessary. Been to Saint Martin twice this year, brought Deet with me but never used it and never saw any mosquitos. I am aware of the virus, chikungunya. Don't worry, enjoy your vacation.

I was there recently in March. Took a tour on the French side -- did not have a problem with the mosquitoes. I did not even see a mosquito in spite of the off and on rain showers. Later walked around on the Dutch side again no problem. I too was concerned about the mosquito problem so I had sprayed DEET prior to the tour. I did not need it.

What time of year are mosquitoes the worst? It seems to me as the weather gets hotter, they will get worse. I'm going in May - just wondering if I should be more concerned than folks who have gone earlier in the year.

Thanks,

JoAnne
