NOS 9692 proximity to bar/lounges

We have reserved cabin 9692 on NOS September 2014 and had planned to purchase a beverage package. Now I'm not so sure. Since we are not pool people we would probably spend a lot of time on our balcony which would mean ordering drinks/wine to take back to the cabin. I can't really tell from the deck plans how easy it would be to take the stairs up or down a level or two. Is there a bar or lounge fairly close by?

Closest bar would probably be up two decks to Windjammer. Forward would be the Pool Bar and Solarium Bar.

 

If you go down to deck 5, then you have the R-Bar, Pub, and Vintages.

9692, being an aft cabin, would be a bit of a walk to the nearest stairs (probably the longest distance possible to a stairwell, but still only a few hundred feet). The Plaza Bar in front of Giovanni's/Chops is two decks up from the rear stairwell, and would be the most accessible bar. You could also hoof it down to deck 5 (or take the elevator) and the R Bar would be right there.

 

Even if you don't get the drink package, you'd still only be able to bring two bottles of wine on board into your cabin, so any other drinks would still need to be ordered in a bar or through room service.

That's why I was saying that they aren't super close to bars (at least compared with other cabins) but that it shouldn't affect their decision to get a drink package, since even if they didn't get a package, they would have to use a bar to purchase most drinks anyway (I believe the room service drink menu is a bit smaller).

Bring comfortable walking shoes. You are about as you can get from any bar or lounge. It's 1/3 of the length of the ship to the nearest bank of elevators, then up to the pool bar ( deck 11) or down to deck 5 with a similar walk to the nearest watering hole.

We were in 9392, it's a LONG walk from/to everywhere. It was our first aft and will our last. But the balcony was fantastic. If you are more concerned about the balcony then do no hesitate to book it.

If it's any consolation, we have 7392 & 9392 booked for an 18 day back to back in 11 days and I just got out of the hospital today from a foot injury.

you poor thing; first night of our cruise last week I fell and hurt my leg. Pulled my hamstring; that was a LONG LONG LONG walk down that hallway. If you have a scooter I would suggest bringing it.

The back elevators on the Navigator are really more in the middle of the ship. There are no passenger elevators or passenger stairs at the back of the ship. It's not a bad walk though -- probably less than a minute. I don't think there is anything preventing you from bring your own bigger plastic cups (like those quart sized ones), buying 2 or 3 drinks, and pouring those drinks into your bigger cup. That would be easier to carry back than a rather full smaller glass like they use on the ship. Your drink will still be served in the RCI glasses -- Just pour it into a bigger cup before you carry it back. No spills that way.

 

Your closet bar is probably the one in the buffet (deck 11), but it is not always open.

Maybe in the evening get a drink, and perhaps some (free) sushi in the Jade section of the buffet (or anything else you want from the buffet).

Load up a plate and take it back to your cabin.

After midnight or so your best bet might be the casino bar (deck 4).

You'll be fine. It is a big ship, but not that far to walk.

Well, never mind. Just had to cancel the NOS Sept 7, 2014 cruise. We were really looking forward to that aft cabin 9692.

The "problem" is, and you would realize that if you actually read the question and some of the responses, there is NO bar that is close to their stateroom on Deck 9. The closest is at least two decks away.:rolleyes:

Oh well it's a moot point now since we had to cancel our cruise. This is the second time we've had to cancel in the last few years. Hopefully our luck will change next time.
