How close to a sailing date can you get before the cruise line can't take your booking? What's the best way to find last minute deals?

It's about 72 to 48 hours ahead of the cruise. Be prepared to get the a very poor cabin location or a very expensive one .

Just this past February there a great deal on the Gem. 9 days in the Caribbean for a very low price. Booked the cruise for myself and DH on Friday and sailed the next day. Couldn't chose a cabin due to late booking. But got a cabin on deck 11. Great location not far from the elevators and one flight of stair to the buffet. Nice quiet cabin. We live in New York so it was only a 45 minutes drive to the port. I had a previous engagement so didn't even go home that Friday so had to do our packing the morning of the sailing. Were having lunch in the buffet by 2pm. Great cruise.
