rene194215 Posted April 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2014 So I have been to Grand Caymen 3 times and love it there. I have always done excursions and only went to the beach for a limited time. I know 7 mile beach is long and that there are any public beach areas. I am looking to go to a safe and inexpensive spot. I just want to lay in the sun, swim and relax. I have done para sailing, Hell, Stingrays and the Turtle farm. I just want a place to be safe and relax... Would love a place that might have a raft to rent. Thanks!!!! thatoneguyyouknow Posted April 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2014 Royal Palms is 4 dollar taxi each way and 2 dollar entrance fee. 7 dollars for a chair, I think 10 for a floating mat and is a very nice place to relax.
CocoaMom Posted April 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2014 IF you don't want to pay for a lounge on the beach you use them for free at the pool (adult only). Bring your towel and you can check their menu prices online. Bottom line - it's not only beautiful, it's very safe here for a solo.
cb at sea Posted April 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) You don't need an excursion at all...hop on the bus...all of the 7 Mile Beach is public, with chair/umbrella rentals, restrooms, etc....very easy, and you will NOT be the only ship's passenger there! Does it get overly crowded here? The price sounds great, but I honestly do not want to be 1 of 1000 people there. It looks like there is going to be another ship, Caribbean Princess. Estimated 5700 people in port.

I got Nachi Cohm mixed up in Cozumel with Royal Palms. I know Cozumel limits to 100 people. Does it get crowded? I would just want the entry and chair, no need for all inclusive. Will the turn me away?

When you say "hop on the bus" do they make frequent stops to different resorts? Westin, Royal Palms etc. because we are still deciding which part of the beach to park ourselves :)
cb at sea Posted May 31, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 31, 2014 Yes...they go up and down 7 Mile Beach on a regular basis, with stops at all of the access points!
OCruisers Posted May 31, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 31, 2014 You mentioned SAFE! Grand Cayman is not a poor island and is extremely safe! :) LuLu
Cruising Photographer Posted June 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 1, 2014 We took a Taxi to Calico Jack's Beach (public beach), very clean, for $5 per person. The beach in Grand Cayman is long, but narrow. So be prepared for some crowds of people. You won't be on an isolated beach.
Capt_BJ Posted June 1, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 1, 2014 walk up to Sunset House .. no beach but plenty of iron shore .... friendliest bar on the island (this is where the local folk go) ... buy a drink and or lunch and no one says boo if you decide to use the pool IME .. or the loungers around the pool. Safe? ABSOLUTELY ... I've been going here since the mid 80's and last time was last March with dd. We had a blast she didn't want to leave
