MaiTaiMary Posted April 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2014 We are a family of five, so we need to book two cabins. It doesn't look like they will be close to each other. :( What is the easiest way to contact each other while on board ship? We're so used to cell phones, of course. We'll have an "early riser" cabin and a "late sleeper" cabin. ;) Just wondering what the easiest way would be for my hubby to find us when he gets out & about. irishnyc Posted April 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2014 If your children are young enough you will be given a phone on board if they register for camp. It came in very handy for us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

dd2355 Posted April 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2014 If you use walkies, get ones with CTCSS or DCS (aka "privacy mode" or "channel guard" or similar). Basically these help keep other groups' conversations from coming through on your radios. (Remember also that nothing said on the walkie is private so don't be stupid, and also please remember to be conscientious of the passengers around you) There's also the simple concept of using post-it notes or a white board on the cabin door. Presumably you'll have a basic idea of where you're heading.
PortSideCruzan Posted April 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Hi MaiTaiMary :) Also, other than post-it notes, dry erase boards, walkie talkies, leaving each other voice mail messages on your cabin phones, slipping notes under your cabin doors, etc etc... you can leave notes for one another in your cabin mailboxes as well. :)
maldenmusic Posted April 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2014 We have ussed a magnetic dry erase board that we hung on our cabin door to post messages.
VA_Gym_Guy Posted April 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2014 We have tried the walkie-talkie radios but found that they work ok to fair because of the metal in the ship. We use a combination of predetermined meeting places/times and places and post-a-notes. For the evenings, we talk about who what to do what during dinner. The kids also know that they can find Grandma at any bingo or around the casino.
cb at sea Posted April 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2014 You can call from cabin to cabin on the cabin phones. Then, set up tentative plans for the day, so everyone will know where everyone else is going to be!

I was hoping for two cabins across the hall from each other but I can't find anything. We are sailing on the Miracle. A balcony and an inside across from each other shouldn't be a problem.
