Sunkissed Mommy Posted April 23, 2014 #51 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Central Park was my favorite place to be at night. Beautiful! We stayed on Deck 8 on while on Oasis and Deck 7 on Allure. BOTH time we used Central Park as a pass through instead of the corridors. I don't think it's any less safe than other areas of the ship :)
momof3cruisers Posted April 23, 2014 #52 Share Posted April 23, 2014 They're not homeless, they're just waiting for their upgrades to come through. And they're not muggers, they're Shore Excursion salespeople! Actually, I think the muggers art the art auction guys. Bonus is you get a free glass of champagne. connes1 Posted April 23, 2014 #55 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I think you are fine in central park. However, I think the more remote parts of the ship in the middle of the night should probable be avoided (especially when you are by yourself). connes1 Posted April 23, 2014 #56 Share Posted April 23, 2014 It's a ship filled with 7500 passengers and crew. A small city at sea. Regardless of where you are on the ship, a crime can be committed. It is not common, and central park is no different than any deck on a ship. However, the ship is filled with security, as well as cameras all over the place. It's much safer than most places you can go on vacation. Being aware of your surroundings, and not taking unnecessary risks are important! I couldn't agree with you more great advice. Eng23 Posted April 23, 2014 #57 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I'd be happy just knowing how to pronounce it properly. Here are some creatures in Central Park: That's great!!!! I've got to see if these guys have friends on the Allure. Central Park security gnomes, I already feel safer now! readytolose Posted April 23, 2014 Author #58 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I suspect this is someone's idea of a joke. This has got to be a joke! I posted the question with all seriousness. Honestly I didn't expect to hear anyone tell me it wouldn't be safe. I was really just curious if anyone felt a little nervous about walking through alone. In all the nighttime pictures I have seen it always looks dark and empty!
marci22 Posted April 23, 2014 #59 Share Posted April 23, 2014 If anyone bothers you hit him over the head with some beef on weck. My most threatening experience in CP happened on Allure when some Brazilian chick grabbed a (50% off!!) purse out of my hand in the Coach store. tanzer22pilot Posted April 23, 2014 #61 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Ever since they added the Police K-9 teams on the trains, the subway thru CP is much safer. Lol!

barbatkins Posted April 23, 2014 #64 Share Posted April 23, 2014 At night, I would not go back to my room alone on any ship. Whether others feel safe or not, never have a false sence of security. A little tough if you're sailing solo!! Lol...

Thetrail Posted April 23, 2014 #66 Share Posted April 23, 2014 (edited) Thanks for all of the replies! I've never felt unsafe on a ship so I really wasn't expecting to get replies back telling me to stay away from CP at night, but I've just been noticing how dark it seems at night and it got me wondering. All the other parts of the ship seem to be lit nicely and there are always a bunch of people in the pictures that are posted. CP is darker and almost always looks empty. At least in the pictures that I have seen! I'm actually looking forward to being out there at night with DH listening to the music. and crickets! Seems like a great romantic place for us to relax and enjoy our vacation. Also read many of the replies and one poster said it was one of the more unusual posts he has ever seen, and I have to agree 100%. I can understand the question if you have never been on Allure but if you have its really a funny and silly post as you will find out when you board the ship. Enjoy your cruise and careful in CP......:D:):D...K.O. Edited April 23, 2014 by Thetrail
awhcruiser Posted April 23, 2014 #67 Share Posted April 23, 2014 Why didn't you get a replacement key from passenger services? I have fallen asleep in the hallway because I locked myself out with jewelry on and was woken four hours later by the breakfast room service guy. I have never felt in danger on a boat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

RCIGUY Posted April 23, 2014 #70 Share Posted April 23, 2014 I'm sorry if this is a silly question but looking at all the review pictures from Allure and Oasis I notice it is relatively dark at night in Central Park. It got me wondering about how safe it is. I realize it is nothing like the real central park in NY but has anyone ever not felt safe walking through at night? Our cabin is on deck 8 so if for some reason my husband wants to stay somewhere and I want to head back to our room, will it be safe? Hi readytolose, Wife and I born and raised in Neenah, lived most of our adult lives in Menasha, currently live in SW Florida, and have traveled the world. We have traveled on Oasis of The Seas and both feel safer there than any night on College Ave.!
Hypo Posted April 23, 2014 #71 Share Posted April 23, 2014 On Oasis a couple of years ago, our newly-21 yr old son found out what Long Island Ice Teas are! When he stumbled back to the cabin at 4 AM and couldn't get in because he had lost his key, I had to go to Guest Services to get a new one. While going to and from, I observed the ships security personnel doing a sweep of every location. They looked under benches, behind bushes and under and behind all large furniture. When they found a few sleeping drunks, they escorted them back to their cabins. BTW, DS has sworn off Long Island Ice Teas; the mere though makes him physically ill.:D
