Buying liquor on board

Recommended Posts

Here are the wine packages from a March 2014 sailing. They should be fairly similar, but the selections might change.

You can order liquor by the bottle and have it delivered to your stateroom. You can order before you cruise from the HAL website, or just order from room service after you get on. Prices are for one liter bottles, not the 750 ml bottles more commonly found in stores.

Thanks for your help? Just wondering if the VAT is added to all purchases on board. We are cruising from Venice to Turkey and Greece.
I've heard of the VAT being applied for cruises starting or ending in Spain, but not on the East Med itineraries.

Do you know if this includes pre-ordered alcohol? I'd like to order some for pre-dinner drinks and/or nightcaps for our T/A beginning in Barcelona and wonder if the VAT will be applied.

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

We did not pay VAT on our Barcelona>FL T-A. However, our cruise was just the last segment of a FL>FL Grand Med r/t, so the cruise as a whole did not start in Spain, just stopped there en route. If your cruise actually originates somewhere else, and you just join it in Barcelona, the same may apply to you. Edited by jtl513
