FlaMommy75 Posted April 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2014 Hey all! Trying to decide which ship to go on for our Thanksgiving cruise. It is mainly between the Breeze and the Pride but am also looking at Freedom, Liberty, and Sunshine. Tried to get my husband's input and his only condition is that there has to be a good spot to watch the Eagles/Cowboys game because once he found out the Eagles were playing on Thanksgiving he almost nixed the trip completely  I was just reading the Pride will be coming out of drydock with 2.0 upgrades in Nov with the EA SPORTS Bar…do you think that will be a good spot or will the Breeze have a better place to watch it? Thanks :)

Thanks :) Really depends on what you or he defines as "best" or "better". Breeze does not have a sports bar, but has the seaside theater..games may be shown there...Pride does not have seaside theater, and won't after dry dock..but the EA Sports bar could be a good spot to watch. A ship I know will give options is the Sunshine..has a seaside theater and EA Sports Bar....I'd have to double check if Freedom and Liberty have the same. Just my 0.2 cents on that. nitro2448 Posted April 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2014 Every ship will have a place to watch the game, provided it's on the right channel, sports bar or not. But the ships with the big screens on Lido will be the best.
sailor_jimc Posted April 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2014 The ship has nothing to do with it. The ship will show whatever games are the national network feed they get. I think the nbc feed comes out of Denver. Either way, you are taking a risk on the game being shown or not.

CoconutJD Posted April 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 28, 2014 If it's scheduled to be broadcast on one of the major networks, they should have it onboard. If it's on the NFL Network or possibly ESPN, there's a chance they won't show it onboard.
ibcnusoon Posted April 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 28, 2014 (edited) Try to find a ship with an EA Sports Bar. DD and I were on the Liberty the first week of November and wanted to watch the New York Giants 4:00pm game. The only place to watch football (other than playoffs and Super Bowls) are in the Sports Bars. I don't think the game was on the jumbo screen up on by the pool because there were A LOT of fans watching the 1:00pm game and then the Giants' 4:00pm game in the Sports bar. Forgot to add: The game wasn't on the regular TV in the cabins, but we were able to watch it in the EA Sports bar. They had loads of TV screens, you could watch any sport in there. If the game is on abc, cbs, nbc, then you go out of a port from that area, if possible. Cowboys , go out of Galveston, Seahawks, go out of Seattle, Buccaneers, go out of Tampa , so on an so on. If it's on ESPN, then it doesn't matter as much.
It's a Ship!!! Posted April 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 28, 2014 The ship has nothing to do with it. The ship will show whatever games are the national network feed they get. I think the nbc feed comes out of Denver. Either way, you are taking a risk on the game being shown or not. Since it is Thanksgiving and there are only a few games being played, it won't be a problem, because Fox will be playing that game nation wide in that time slot. ibcnusoon Posted April 28, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 28, 2014 A Cowboys/Eagles game will be on national television. They are a huge rivalry and in the same bracket.

I think it depends on the ship, I was surprised the Dream didn't have a sports bar. Conquest I think had a sports bar as well, but I didn't pay much attention to the casino bar. FlaMommy75 Posted April 28, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted April 28, 2014 I vehemently disagree! It's not every day the Eagles play the Cowgirls on Thanksgiving. Bill Thanks, Bill, for understanding the importance of the Eagles playing the Cowgirls on Thanksgiving! :D Thanks for everyone's input. It is looking like the newly dry-docked Pride will be our best bet since that has the EA sports bar. We were leaning towards that anyway since we are less than 10 minutes from the Port of Tampa and we love going out of there.

hattack Posted April 28, 2014 #20 Share Posted April 28, 2014 I gather your hubby is an Eagles fan....the best ship to watch the game is the one that will have the most Eagles fans onboard:) or the fewest Cowboy fans onboard :)....my experience has been Cowboy fans are fanatical for their team so if you are not with them, you are against them....lol On our Jazz Cruise this October our Sunday tailgate party game is New Orleans vs Detroit...I'm from New Orleans my cabinmate is from Detroit Should be an interesting tailgate party:eek:

Sports were on in the casino bar. The Breeze casino bar seems to be the main viewing spot for sports. You can barely get a seat, or walk through the casino due to the crowds. unionville3 Posted April 28, 2014 #23 Share Posted April 28, 2014 My husband is a Cowboy fan and we almost always travel the week of Thanksgiving. Since the Cowboys ALWAYS play on Thanksgiving day our travel plans revolve around kick off and the jersey must be packed in the suitcase. We have watched the Thanksgiving day game in Sports Bars - one time they even had a special promotion that if you bought a bucket of beers you received a NFL tshirt with purchase. There will be lots of fans watching the game... my husband will be located on the Carnival Sunshine in the sports bar. You know, I've never seen them project those games on the big screen. Since they are during the day it probably wouldn't impress the sunbathers. We do have fun memories of watching the Masters PGA golf tournament by the pool on a Princess cruise....
