LuAnn Posted May 9, 2014 #101 Share Posted May 9, 2014 Flight uneventful. We were due to land at 3.15 local time, in fact were a little early, luggage collected, friend met and back in our house by 4.00pm Now to unpack and chill. We had a great cruise, only a little marred by the nasty cold. My apologies to anyone we met on the ship who caught it off me. I am sure there are lots more observations I could have made and I will read back at some point and try to think of what they might be. Suffice to say that meeting up with CC posters really enhanced our cruise. One thing we are sure about, you meet lovely people on an Azamara cruise, guests and crew alike. Corinne soon...as we disembarked Nice on 4/11 and I still have the bronchitis/cold/cough/laryngitis etc. that I "caught" on board...Many others had it as well....it is one nasty virus!! I appreciated your posts...and we will be on Eclipse next year for the Norwegian Fjords so will be looking for your posts!! Thanks!! LuAnn

cinnamon Posted May 13, 2014 Author #106 Share Posted May 13, 2014 I am amazed to see that the count shows people are still reading this after the event. I hope you are enjoying travelling vicariously. We did pay a Future Cruise deposit but it will be at least 2015 before we cruise on Azamara again. Our next cruise is to the Norwegian Fjords on Celebrity Eclipse.

There was only one guest, a brilliant opera singer who performed twice, light classics, suitable for the audience. Other nights, 2 production shows, a one man show by the CD, Tony, and the White Nights Deck Party which was far too cold to really enjoy. There was a piano man in the bar outside the casino every evening but no other live musician as there had been when we did the TA last year. We are not dancers, but there were a couple of amazing Ukrainian ballroom professionals who ran classes. I think there was a short time for dancing with the orchestra before the show on some evenings. I can dig out my Pursuits (daily activity listings) if you need details. ellbon Posted May 18, 2014 #111 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Hi Corinne Thank you for the information, this was about what we were expecting We had hoped that there would at least be a guitarist in the Looking Glass before dinner unless something changed he is here from 6 to 930 oor 10. Was the piano man in the casino only there after dinner first set at 6 and last at 1130. when i was on quest he started at 1045 and show broke at 1030 so it means peopel walk by an empty space instead of sitting to listen. After dinner was there a disco in the Looking Glass every night from 1030 on.. ends from 12 am to 1 or alter if busy. If you are able a copy of a couple of Pursuits would be very much appreciated Peter and Trish hope this helps

I had been worried that after the loss of the trio/duo,then the harpist that the guitarist had gone the same way .... However I understand that the absence of the guitarist was a "one-off". The first night's Pursuits listed a guitarist but there wasn't one ... We were told that he had to leave the ship for family reasons and, although they tried, a replacement couldn't be found. We were disappointed as the only live music in the bars etc pre/post dinner was the pianist in Club Luxe.It was always very busy and difficult to find anywhere to sit. pickypicky Posted May 19, 2014 #123 Share Posted May 19, 2014 We often had drinks at the area aft of Windows (sorry, don't remember what they call it at night). There was always a guitarist, little candles on the tables, blankets if it was cool, and the buffet inside if you wanted a snack. Not many others seem to find their way there, but for us it's the perfect way to keep our connection to the sea... almost like being on a private yacht. Beautiful breezes, a lovely glass of wine, music. Then we go inside and have dinner at Discoveries or one of the specialties, just depending. This isn't to say that we never have drinks inside...but for me the outdoor bar in the evening is a great alternative, especially on a long cruise.
