Miami to Lauderdale

Hi all....

We (4 female friends) have rented a car on the Sunday before our cruise out of POM. We are thinking about driving to Lauderdale (nixed the idea of driving to Key West) to play tourist. I've searched the boards but I can't find an answer to my question....Can one drive to Fort Lauderdale from Miami without paying any tolls? 🚙

I know there will be a Sun-pass (or it's equivalent) in the car, but I'm not comfortable letting the rental agency charge whatever they'd like to my credit card for the tolls. 💸

Now, when in Lauderdale, is there anything that we shouldn't miss? I've read about Sawgrass Mills...but I can't go there because I'll shop like crazy and I can't take it all back on the plane!! ✈️

Thanks in advance for you help and suggestions!! Only 105 days to go!!

o!!

Yes, but you do not want to do this.

Take the turnpike as far south as possible then Card Sound Road in Homestead to the keys.

We had to nix the Keys....one of the girls is terrified of bridges! I tried my best to get her to go, even pointing out that technically, most are not bridges but causeways - not happening! :(

Okay, I'm retarded and cannot read. I thought the OP wanted to go to the keys.

Yes, A1A is a great drive. You'll have to take Federal Highway around the port and through the airport but you can jump right back on in Hollywood.

It is one of my favorite drives.
