oneboysmom Posted May 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2014 Was doing a mock booking on Carnival for March 2015 sailing, and I guess the early saver rate does NOT apply to Canadians? You can get the rate, but not all the guarantees. Has any other Canadian had this happen to them? We can get a Province/Country rate, but thats it? meatloafsfan Posted May 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) I'm Canadian and I've booked the Early Saver rate for 3 of my past cruises and I've booked the ES rate for my upcoming Pride cruise. You're entitled to price drops as long as you qualify for the rate you're matching. I've been able to match to the senior rate (on a cruise my parents took with me) and the casino rate as well as regular price drops and Provincial/country price drops. jenng1976 Posted May 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2014 I think your TA has given you wrong info. We are Canadian and have booked ES on several cruises and received many price drops. Perhaps the TA Doesn't want to deal with submitting them? You can always book direct with Carnival, either online or by phone (which is what we do). That way you can submit your own ES forms. You might want to get confirmation from them before booking that they WILL submit price drops for you, or if there are any fees (some TA's charge a change fee). Just so there's no confusion or disappointment later on. Its called"Geo Blocking" I am from Australia and the same thing happens to us. Carnival has your Internet ip address so will not show all fares offered to USA customers depending on your location. Use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to do mock bookings and this will block your ip address location and show all available sales and deals because they then presume you are in USA. :) One for instance is Carnivals "fare viewer", it sends me an email of a price drop or lower fare on my upcoming cruise but when I check the price on Carnival.com the new rates are not always shown to me because of my location outside USA:rolleyes: Edited May 9, 2014 by fishtaco Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Look up "Geo Blocking" and you will realize that not all you look up especially on line mock bookings with Cruiselines and airlines are the same as those seen in USA by USA customers! If you put in Ontario (or whatever province) on the website/Fareviewer, it will show if there is a Canadian resident rate for that sailing. If nothing comes up, it's not offered! It does show up if you search from Canada on the carnival.com website. I've noticed it seems to pop up closer to sail date - and may or may not be a guarantee rate where they pick your room. You can price match to it with Early Saver rate if it's the type where you pick your cabin, I've done this several times. I really like my PVP, and she has always been there for me quickly when I had questions etc. Have always been pleased with her service since 2009. I realise that the original post here was about a year ago, so things may have changed for Canadians with regard to ES. I have cruising with Carnival since 2000, and always booked through them directly. Up until this latest booking for this year, I have always been quoted a past guest rate which I have booked and been satisfied with at the time of booking. I just always thought ES was not available or something and did not question it. When I booked my upcoming cruise, PVP said I should go for ES. I did and have already gotten a price drop and an OBC. I did however not question why all of a sudden she is quoting me ES as opposed to past guest rate. So perhaps ES has not been available for people outside of the US until recently. Typos are inevitable. hi Sounds like this is the problem...book it yourself, you wouldn't be able to count on this person to follow through for you.
