Gotta Love SWA.......

Hubby noticed that the fare for our flight on 8/12 to MCO for our trip on SOS was down to about HALF PRICE of what we paid. Called SWA, they cancelled the original, gave us a credit and rebooked. Went from $802 for 3 of us to $406. :) With the left over credit, we can probably get to MCO again for perhaps another cruise or a quick jaunt to WDW.

Love that SWA, what nice folks they are. I know that Delta wouldn't do this for us.

No change fees on SWA. You have 12 months from the date of your original reservation to use the money on another flight. You can even have other people use up the money for you. Just give them the Locator number and name on the res. Do it all online. No other airline even comes close to how easy it is to book and change flights online. And don't forget to sign up for "Ding" The fares are fabulous.

Thanks for the info. Those are awesome policies. Do you know how far in advance they release their fares?

Here in Phoenix, Southwest is one of the two dominant carriers, so we fly it frequently. Their liberal policies are nice. Southwest employees are also always friendly, even under pressure.

Another nice thing about SWA is that Herb has not subcontracted c/s reps to India.

As a long time Delta frequent flyer, I have had it with waiting on hold 20 minutes only to find out you're speaking with some outsourced c/s rep in India who isn't empowered to do ANYTHING.

Delta screwed up my most recent reservation for a cross country trip, they coded my ticket wrong so I'm not elligible for an upgrade and I have like 100,000 Skymiles. They refused to correct it. Delta's c/s is WORTHLESS.

Alaska is another airline that doesn't outsource c/s. Yay for them!

Ditto. You can also do this on their website. Click on Travel Center - then on Change Reservation - easy.

Thanks for this information. We were totally unaware you could do this. We just saved $60 on our flight for our September cruise out of Galveston (Houston Hobby). Seems as though an "Internet Special" became available since our first reservation was made in May. It pays to read and check back often on flights AND cruises for new reductions! Thanks again - and we "owe you one"!

As a very frequent SWA traveller, just a suggestion which probably will earn you more Rapid Rewards (RR) credits (the policy of which is just about the most liberal of any airline, if not the most liberal):

Do all the bookings, changes, etc., online. You almost always receive more RR credits that way. SWA makes it very easy, with a totally user friendly website. No change fees in all my experiences.

Also, check on a daily basis for short term specials. Sounds like you hit the promotion, as I did, which ends on 8/1. My BWI-ALB RT in mid August dropped $38, or about 20%.

Gotta LUV SWA!

I have also had SWA and Delta issues.

I have a serious peanut allergy that developed out of nowhere about six years ago. Whenever we go on vacation, I call the airline two weeks before departure date and request a peanut free flight.

So far, all airlines have been extremely cooperative...except Delta. They say it's my problem, even after I tell them that just smelling peanuts could cause an emergency en route. They don't care.

Now, SWA is a different story. Not only do they take all peanuts off the flight, I once had a pilot announce to the passengers to keep all peanut products wrapped because of a sever peanut allergy on board. That was so thoughtful and important. Another time, I was given pre-boarding so I can sit all the way up front, allowing no exposure to possible peanuts further back in the plane.

SWA is our favorite airline. Now, if only SWA flew from MHT to SJU...

You're very welcome:) - but unfortunately I'll have to share the "one you owe" me with Signman - as I see he's also posted here - & he's the one that originally clued me in on Southwest:D :D So just pass it on & then someone will "owe you one":p

Hi sherry7 - They opened up on July 15 for flights through December 12. Sometimes it seems like it's never soon enough;)

I live in the Baltimore area and Southwest has about 35% of the gates there. They are one of the few airlines that make a profit because of thier great service. No stupid computers when you call them either. A live person everytime. I would like to see them go into other cities like Minneapolis to give Northwest a run for it's money...

I fly in/out of BWI on SWA frequently. They do have a code share w/ ATA to serve the Minn/St. Paul market. Looking at their route map, that does seem like an underserved area of the country. With the recent history of SWA entering PHL and PIT to beat up UsAir, I wouldn't be surprised to see them enter the Minn. market to joust with NW Air, nor would I be surprised to see entry into ATL to take on DAL, given the financial state of those two competitors.

Thanks to all who helped share the joy and gave more info to others. I wish we had waited to book our air for our Jewel cruise in Dec. instead of booking Delta. But live and learn. Only 12 days to go!!! How will I ever get through work? And I am still only half packed!!! But I did our SetSail Pass and can't wait to see how it goes!!!

Thanks again everyone:)

Just love this thread and SWA! We always fly Southwest. Just wish they flew to London!

Heads up for all you SW fans. Their VISA card is a great way to earn extra flight credits and flight coupons. They even send you the confirmation in the mail when you earn a flight along with some drink coupons. When we fly, we always fly SW when possible.

To those who work for SW Air, kudos - you work for a company that hires the best and treats their passengers with kindness and professionalism! What more could anyone want? :D I gave up on American and Delta ages ago!

We usually don't go to the track until Labor Day (the last day of the meet). I get there for the second race, bet the exacta and win and then go home!!!:D I have done this for the past three years. Now if only I could have that luck in the casino............:D . I'll be looking for you on the boards!
