cruisem-d1 Posted May 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2014 For a solo traveller, which is better? I can get a studio room on NCL for the same price as an interior on Breeze. I'm young (in my twenties), and looking for about a week this summer (6-8 nights). I've been on Carnival before, and found the food and ship okay, but the clientele was a little too loud for me. Thanks!
Erik101 Posted May 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2014 You might have a better time on the Getaway. I met two girls, both traveling solo, who became friends. They were a lot of fun to hang out with and we are all Facebook friends now. I've been on the Carnival Glory before and found that the food is slightly better on NCL. nancynana9950 Posted May 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2014 You might want to hop on over to the Carnival boards. Gambee just got back from his solo cruise on Breeze is writing a great review. He also sailed Breakaway with his Mom which may give you some info on it's sister ship Getaway although they have different itineraries. barefootbob Posted May 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Just returned from a solo trip on Getaway yesterday. I am 53 and had an awesome time. They have a solo cruise director staff person who meets daily with any solo travelers and coordinates dinner and other activities depending on the group. There were about 12 of us that gathered on a regular basis. I would guess that most people in the group were 40+ but there were 2 younger maybe early 30's. There were younger solo travelers who seemed to have no issue meeting people to hang out with especially by the pool. happy cruzin Posted May 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2014 We have done both - thoroughly enjoyed and would book either again with NO hesitation. Here is a recent thread that compared some specifics Getaway vs Breeze. It may help you decide. ;) http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2042060

JustMeandTheSea Posted May 18, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2014 For myself, I would pick the breeze, but take a look at gambees review to decide what helps suit your needs. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Aquahound Posted May 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2014 I had this same dilemma and wanted to book one of the 2 for next week. After looking closely at both ships, asking advice here, and reading the reviews by Gambee and others on both Breeze and the Getaway/Breakaway sisters, I was honestly more impressed with Breeze. Both have what I would consider some serious advantages and disadvantages, but all in all, I decided to go with Breeze.
