Questions about the infamous Bermuda dredging?

Recommended Posts

Since all the talk is Bermuda not quite cooperating at the moment with dredging, and hopefully they will eventually so we can get "Anthem" up here in NJ, and it will stay here. I have a question about the dredging. Will they be dredging deep enough for "Oasis" size ships as well as "Quantum" size ships to make it to Bermuda or are they only dredging enough for Quantum? Maybe this has already been answered or maybe the info hasn't been released yet, but I thought I'd ask.

Quantum would start her visits to Bermuda in 2016.

Bermuda Government has been in discussion with RCL with regards to their assistance in the development through some form of financial partnership in the construction. At this stage they have negotiated a partnership in the investigation works and both parties are pleased with the progress that is being made. Discussions are in hand with respect to the next phase.

“The nature and extent of cost-sharing in the construction, if any, has not as yet been determined and is dependent on many economic and commercial factors.”

So she will be going to China in 2015..

Did they have to do extra dredging for the Breakaway? Will the Quantum and Anthem be larger than the Breakaway?

They're 79 feet longer and at the waterline, 3 feet wider than Breakaway. Their draft is 1 foot deeper. Does that translate into a need for dredging? I have no clue.

Yes it needs to be dredged. That is the reason Quantum i going to China. They are hoping by the time "Anthem" is ready to go the dredging will be done, ad "Anthem" will stay in NJ. I guess I should have put thin the the specific "Quantum" forum where they are up on these kinds of issues.
