Category Upgrade?

My husband and I are going on the Carnival Dream in July. We currently have a balcony room on the Verandah deck category 8D.

 

I was checking out the fare viewer today and it said something about category 8F (free upgrade from 8D). When I looked it up on cruisedeckplans dot com it seems as though 8F is on the lido deck? Based upon color codes..

 

 

I'm wondering if anyone knows the main difference. Would it be worth changing our room?

The cabin itself should be the same...only the location will be different.

Usually higher categories mean higher on the ship, or in a more prime location. If the category balconies on the Lido seem better located for you, you might ask for an upgrade. However, Lido has a lot of foot traffic, so you might get a lot of people walking up and down the corridors.
