Woot! Scored on the one week sale

Our final payment date was April 18th. Since then there have been two price drops of between $100-$150 each time per person. This last one is a one week sale that is still on the website.

The first time we took an upsell to a cabin that we really wanted.

This time we were offered $50 pp in OBC. I'll take that.

I almost didn't ask my TA this time since I figured we wouldn't be offered anything but I thought, what the heck, it never hurts to ask.

This whole concept of asking after final payment date is such a novel one. We normally don't see this with resorts or flights.

Thanks, Cruise Critic folks, for suggesting that it's still possible to get something even after final payment.

Good !

The same for me next july.

An upgrade announced on the web site. I've call this afternoons and…

Easily whisk to an ocean view / obstructed :(

but I keep the GUAR assignment) + At the same price and No need to rebook.

I am a half-happy cruiser now..!

Holacanada from the cold Quebec City (not normal for this time of the year)

Leaving Quebec aboard the Veendam in 38 days, 14 hours and 20 minutes...

Glad it worked out for you....I always ask, too, through my persistent TA.:) Our price dropped the day after final payment on our last cruise, and we were able to amass a substantial amount of OBC!

Have a great cruise.....

Can anyone tell me whether getting to take advantage of price drops after final payment will most likely (or always) come through in OBC's or upgrades, rather than cash back/refunds?

Though the OP seems to have explained things clearly, I have often been confused when posters on various threads say they they got $X "back."

I would think they would always come in the form of OBC or upgrades. I've never heard of anyone getting money back after final payment.

The OBC wasn't equal to the price drop in our case. The TA said that HAL bases it on a number of different things.

Still, we're h happy with the amounts.
