Merion_Mom Posted June 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Last week, I sailed on "Lady G" for the first time, May 30-June 6, 2014. I am now IN LOVE with a. the wonderful crew of the Grandeur b. the "jump in the car and drive easily to the port" experience The itinerary was truly irrelevant to me. The stops were Port Canaveral, Nassau and CocoCay. I have been to the Bahamas INNUMERABLE times. But my sons live in Orlando, so the port stop in Port Canaveral is an opportunity for me to see them. Unfortunately this time my son-in-law had to work, but my son drove to PC after work and we had dinner at Fishlips and the rest of the evening together. (that day's port call is 10:30 A.M. to 9:30 P.M. - I was officially the last person to re-board before we set sail that night) The food was good, not great. I find that I eat less and less these days (yea!), and never more than twice a day. Often, one meal a day is enough for me. And even though it may be blasphemy, I am not drinking much any more either. Some nights, it's one Sprite Zero. (Being D+, I get all the free drinks I want in either lounge for three and a half hours a night) The Grandeur has the (to me) unfortunate dining times of 5:30 & 8:00. Because of those earlier times, the DL and CL have their "cocktail hours" 4:30 to 8:00. (on other ships, it's 5:00 to 8:30) On sea days, I always eat in the Main Dining Room (MDR) and have only the Tutti Salad Bar. I do NOT like the gloppy dressings that they have, so I carry a small empty plastic jar/container, pour in some olive oil and balsamic vinegar, add a dollop of Dijon mustard, and shake vigorously. This is what I use on my salad at home and on board. It deeply puzzles the staff in the dining room. :D I never ate breakfast all week, which is my usual behavior. I ate a very late lunch one day in the Windjammer, and I had..............salad. Thus, I am unable to tell you much about the WJ. My dining room waiter was far from the best that I have had. My assistant waiter was very good. My tablemates were fantastic, and were the main reason that I ate in the dining room six nights (the 7th was in Port Canaveral). This thread is more to share some photographs than to describe the cruise. I will be very happy to answer specific questions, but sit back and enjoy some pictures. Merion_Mom Posted June 9, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted June 9, 2014 I was upgraded from the balcony cabin that I had reserved to a Junior Suite, cabin 8078. It is the last cabin aft on the port side. Unlike some of its neighbors, there is no pole in the cabin. When I arrived, there were two chairs and a high table on the balcony. I asked Yudi, my FANTASTIC cabin attendant, if I could have a lounger. He went up to the pool deck and carried one back down for me!!!!! Just to give you an idea of the spacing:

Merion_Mom Posted June 9, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Storage: The closet, a regular one, by the door, across from the bathroom door. (as usual) Inside the closet: Coffee-making equipment, in JS and above: Diamond welcome back gift - OOPS. Ice bucket - just ask. Refilled twice a day, no problem. Merion_Mom Posted June 9, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Everyone seems bizarrely fixated on the outlets. Here they are. Typical for any Royal Caribbean cabin on any ship. I only received "treats" once. Here are two pictures of the new flat screen TV that worked very well. No interactive TV on the old ships. Want your SeaPass account? Go to Guest Services on Deck 5. Lady Hudson Posted June 9, 2014 #17 Share Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the pictures -- brings back many good memories. We were on during 2 "noro" cruises in April. We didn't get sick but I felt bad for the staff. I kind of liked the 8:00 dining -- just a bit earlier than 8:30. But I noticed on our upcoming March cruises the times are back to 6:00 and 8:30. Again, thanks for taking the time to share. Edited June 9, 2014 by Lady Hudson

EmpressofPurple Posted June 9, 2014 #20 Share Posted June 9, 2014 Wowowowow!! :-) :-) Carol, loving all the photos!! Sooo glad you enjoyed the grandeur... I know some miss the bells and whistles of the larger ships, but as more of a cruising purist I could see having a great time, especially if staff is so special. Thanks again for taking time to take -and post -all those photos!! :-) Sent from my SPH-L710 using Forums mobile app

Merion_Mom Posted June 9, 2014 Author #22 Share Posted June 9, 2014 For some reason, I took a lot of pictures of the South Pacific Lounge. A lot of stuff happens here, including Bingo and the Quest. One side of it also contains the Diamond Lounge/Club. The crew of this ship is SO HAPPY........they LOVE having their picture taken!

It is SEALED! Some pictures of the Grandeur's berth, which is far-ish from where Enchantment and Explorer dock.
