galliegirlie Posted June 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2014 I love taking pictures, and from what I've seen the city view of Old Town Tallin can be quite remarkable, so I'm wondering what is your favorite viewpoint in Tallin to catch the best pictures of Old Town? I know that there are many different church steeples that you can pay to climb for viewpoints, so I'm wondering if there are any that are worth the price or that are better than others? Also, is the climb along the town walls worthwhile for viewpoints?
hallasm Posted June 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2014 One option is from the cruise ship, another is Kohtuotsa Vaateplats http://www.360cities.net/image/kohtuotsa-vaateplats-view-point#333.10,2.10,70.0 There is also a nice view from the the Lounge 24 bar at the top of Radisson Blu Sky Hotel
John Bull Posted June 10, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2014 Top of the old town. Views both over the old town and, in the opposite direction & from a different point a few hundred yards further on, over the countryside. Are you feeling fit? ;) JB :)

Really, I'm not sure if there are any particular churches or building you can go into and get to the top to have a view of the city. Most, like myself, walked up the hill to Toompea and from there you have excellent views over the rooftops, looking out over the city, even out to the harbor where your ship is http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe543.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe546.jpg Again, Tallinn is real a hidden jewel for photographers. So much to see, not just views http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe566.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe518.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe585.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe622.jpg Cheers Len
movc Posted June 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2014 There are two viewpoints in the upper part of old town, both well marked on maps in the area. Most churches have been converted to museums and the steeples may be climbed. Entry is usually only a couple of euros.
