I agree with everything everyone else has mentioned but would like to reiterate the CREW the CREW. THEY ARE ALL GEMS.

Room service is second to none too, and so punctual.

The cruise advisors on land are also worth their weight in gold for the help and advice they give.

Well done P&O! :)

Agree with everything that as been said, but even then although this was just for positive points for P&O, their is still a couple of threads that have to mention what they consider too be negative about P & O. Their is always somebody that cant wait to moan. Why they go on P & O website amazes me. I suppose thy must enjoy it.

That's why I thought we needed to be cheered up and think about the positives. I'll be honest, we agree that things aren't 100% perfect, but I doubt any are. We have loved our cruises on P&O and are looking forward to a cruise on one of their bigger ships in an aft cabin. :D:D

At the risk of being shot down, I have no memories of great service on P&O. On the whole its been perfunctory. Freedom dining has generally rendered indifferent waiters. On our last Ventura cruise we waited 40 mins for soups to be cleared.

Compared to Royal Caribbean and Celebrity their crew on the whole seem way more friendly and personable and indeed I can remember individuals on those cruises but cannot remember any staff members on P&O.

Sorry, no offense intended, but if you read from the beginning this is the 'What we LOVE about P&O' thread and no negative posts are allowed. ;)

There are plenty of other threads where you can let us know what you think - the aim of this one is that we just enjoy sharing the good stuff and looking forward to our holiday. :)

Thanks :):D

PS Sorry Moderators - am moderating this one for us happy P&O cruisers ;) ;)

My wife and I have cruised with P&O since 2005 and in that time have had the privelidge to meet many fine crew members on the ships who have went out of their way to ensure we have had great holidays and I still remember their names. Each time we cruise we always meet staff members who remember us from previous cruises and not just our faces they remember our names as well, perhaps because we take time to speak and pass the time of day with them.i can honestly say I have never experienced a rude member of staff, I have met some who do not have a great command of English other than that they need to carry out their duties and perhaps some passengers feel this relates to rudeness. I love cruising with P&O for all the reasons given by others and will continue to do so as long as their product is to my liking which it has been for the last nine years.

Happy cruising to you all.

Believe me we don't. Read my review from the last cruises. I just want to think of the good things for once.

Chill out people and think good things ...life is too short to just see the negatives for the sake of it.

:(

Well said, I don't think that any cruise will be 100% perfect but P&O do their best and I like to think positively as much as possible, negativity only makes people miserable, positivity does not mean wearing rose-tinted spectacles.

I like :

the tea making facilities in the cabins

being able to get lunch in the MDR even on port days

everything being charged in GBP

low tips - we always give a little extra to our cabin steward and if we are on club dining a little extra to our waiters.

Even though we've cruised with other cruise lines for the last couple of years, the majority of our cruises have been with P&O. The things we like are:

  • Sailing from the UK with a wide range of itineraries
  • The crew, some of whom still remember us from our first cruise in 2002
  • Loyalty club benefits

and lastly the one thing for me that really sets P&O apart from the rest is the way that vegetarians are catered for. P&O are brilliant at it and no other cruise line so far has come anywhere near!

Sorry but I think you are probably exaggerating slightly about having a toilet that didn't flush for the WHOLE cruise. Really?

The best thing about P&O is that they pay my husband's wages and have done for the past 28 years.

The best thing about Cruise Critic is reading some of the outlandish comments written about P&O it always brightens my day. :D

Hello, when I started cruising in 1994 it was Cunard who paid my husbands wages, then Princess then P&O. Since 2002 we have stuck with P&O with a Princess and Cunard, Costa&RC flung in between. We have always enjoyed whatever P&O have offered us is the past and hopefully will continue in the future, and I have never had such a bad experience on any of the P&O Fleet over the last 24 years that I felt that I had to complain about.

I'm just very grateful and thankful that I have had the opportunity to cruise. 'Be Happy'

I love everything. Reasonable bar prices is a big one for DH.

No 15% tipping is a bonus, more than happy to pay the tips at the end of the holiday.

All the staff are brilliant and they have to deal with some pretty horrible passengers who speak to them like rubbish

Coffee making and biscuits

Fridge

Safe

Toiletries

Really comfy beds

I could just go on and on and on and..............................!!

Roll on the next one in July. Counting down!

Oh, not fussed on the sailaways. Bit OTT for me

This thread was always going to go downhill, shame.

I stand by my comments earlier AND I have cruised with 3 other cruise lines.

I shall no doubt cruise with them again and already have one booked with P&O.

Yes there are a small minority of people who come on here only to have ago at the company. And when they are losing the argument they have a go at those people who like P&O. If they only come on here to cause trouble then they should not be here.

I hear your plea, but if this was a exam, you would not gain great marks as you haven't answered the question that was asked, i.e. what do you love about P&O?

I really want a positive thread. I want to know what other like-minded people LOVE about P&O, well anything really - sell it to me! It takes SO long to cut through all the negativity that I frequently give up, feeling completely demoralised.

I love P&O - out and proud! It suits both myself and my hubby. We love the crew; we love the cruise prices; we love the food and the competitively-priced alcoholic beverages; we love the dining options; we love the dress code because it's adhered to; we love the range of wines available; we love that we can take a small amount of spirits on board for cabin consumption; we love the quizzes; we love the entertainment; we love the activities; we love the camaraderie; we love the tea-making facilities; we love that cabins have decent-sized fridges; we love that we can order a bottle of wine from room service at no extra cost and it arrives within minutes with a big smile. We love that there is something for everyone, something to suit all tastes. We love that we can chat with someone who was on the same cruise, but their experience was wholly enjoyable but totally different to ours.

We have cruised other lines (both up and down the cruise line 'hierarchy') - but for us, for now, it's all about P&O. Please stay positive or visit another thread - lawd knows there are enough of them!

My thoughts exactly - I hope we meet up one day ;)

Oh please.

P&O isn't perfect. Neither is any other cruise line. On balance, P&O do a lot of things right (as do many other cruise lines) and there's nothing wrong in giving praise where praise is due.

Well this thread makes a change from the normal rows about dress code;)

Or tipping.

The main point for me about P&O is that they cruise all the year round from Southampton and are the only line to do so. That means I can cruise any month I want. Being on a mobility scooter going from Southampton is very important because flying is such a hassle.

I also like,

The staff,

The food

The speciality restaurants

The casino although sometimes they are short of players.

The large number of sea days.

The general feel of the cruise, difficult to put a finger on exactly what I mean.

Being able to have a drink in the cabin and being able to bring it on with me or buy it on board. Usually the latter unless we are going to Gib early in the cruise.

We have avoided P&O in the past because of all the negativity that surrounds the whole of the fleet, so it was with slight trepidation that we have booked a cruise on the Oriana which sails in just under 2 weeks time :D. Why did we book it; the itinerary, the date and, to be honest, the price all fitted what we were looking for and after a year of illness I desperately feel the need to have a holiday.

Having done that, I am still alarmed at all the negativity so it was with great relief and a lot of pleasure to be able to read a thread that is filled with honesty (I hope!) and positivity.

I may wear glasses, but they are not rose-tinted and I appreciate that nothing is perfect and everyone is different; eg DH loves rice pudding, me I could throw up just looking at it, but please people don't spoil this thread. If you have something negative to say, post it on another thread and allow me and others a chance to fill our glasses to the top and not half-full.

This is the problem with a Forum. You get a very small number of people who want to complain and they do it relentlessly.

The fact is that the vast majority are delighed with P&O.

We love P&O for the food and the dancing (even on the Azura). The Speciality restaurants are excellent. We find most people are very friendly and that definitely includes the staff. If you have any requests then the crew are only too happy to sort things out for you.

We can honestly say we are more than happy with P&O.

We agree David, in fat some are so friendly that you just can't get rid of them:D. We have five friends from different parts of England that here visiting us over the next few days and guess what? Yes we all met on a P&O cruise a few years ago.

So this evening we will all be toasting our future cruise on Azura come Oct/Nov and our future cruise on Britannia Oct/Nov 2015.

So needless to say if we had not cruised with P&O we would never had met such lovely friends. Babs135 have a wonderful cruise and hope your health improves and soon feeling better.

We'll be joining that band shortly. :) I did see on another post that some of your friends were in Port Seton for a few days. I worked at the power station there for many years.

We have also met a lot of really nice people mainly through the dancing. We learned to play Bridge on one Transatlantic and gained a couple of friends who we played regularly. Still no good at it though. We normally always go for Freedom Dining and have a table for 2 but always finish sitting at a table next to really nice people and we always but always have really excellent and friendly waiters.
