Nassau Graycliff & Rum factory

We did both back in November. Since we didn't want to spend too much time at Graycliff, we didn't do the tour, just went to the store. They have samples and are delicious! We bought some candy and left it there til we were ready to head back to the ship since it was hot outside.

Watlings distillery is a free, self guided tour and we thoroughly enjoyed it. You'll get to sample their rums and I thought they were really strong, although my husband liked them. I thought they were a bit pricey for their rum. They have a little restaurant there where you can sit and enjoy something light.

We did an afternoon self-guided walk to both the Graycliff and John Watling's last month, took about 3 hours total from the ship and back. Made a very nice day combined with a morning excursion and lunch back on the ship. The chocolate factory was small but the pride they take really showed thru. $10 per person includes a sample. The distillery is a very cool property and good place for a drink on their patio. Tour is free, however to help "fund continued preservation" of the property at the start they'll offer for sale poker chips (Casino Royal connection) for $5 each which can be turned in for a drink at the bar. I believe both tours are closed on Sundays, check their respective web sites. Google maps helps with putting together your exact walking path, which can also go past the Pirate Museum if you want to add that on.

Important note - I do NOT recommend this walk for children due to the traffic and lack of sidewalks along certain streets. Perfectly fine for able adults aware of their surroundings, and during the day our group of 5 felt safe from a crime perspective. The tours themselves are probably better appreciated by adults, even the chocolate factory - sorry it's not Hersheypark.

Our cruise line offers the graycliff chocolate factory tour .... You get to make your own chi layers and bring them home for $60 each including transportation...do you think it is worth the money for two adults? And how close is the rum factory?

The distillery is only a couple of blocks from Graycliff, or a 15 minute walk from the port.

This is kinda late to reply, but the rum distillery was open on Sunday when we were there in April. It's a nice tour. You learn about how they make the rum, see the process. It's a nice 15 min tour. You get to sample some of the rum also which is very nice. I would go back just to have the cocktails at the bar. Some green drink...WOW. it's awesome. They have a deal of buying 3 drinks for 12$ I think. Nice stop. Looking forward to doing greycliff in a few weeks when we go back
