pinkroses Posted June 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2014 On previous cruises on the beach we always had to rent umbrellas if they were available or find shade because my husband is very fair. I found some light weight portable beach umbrellas which are not the heavy duty big ones like we see on the beaches. They are very portable and about the size of a quiver and are carried the same way. Our plan is to use these on the islands and discard them at the last port. My question is, does anyone know if RC allows these onboard? Thanks!
Langley Cruisers Posted June 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2014 Well, do they fold down to fit in your luggage? If so, then yes. They are certainly not on the prohibited items list. If they do not fold down, you could wrap them, put a luggage tag on, and give them to the porters (in other words, check them as luggage).
cb at sea Posted June 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2014 They are allowed, if you wish to bring them. Some umbrellas are not "SPF" rated, and despite the apparent shade, you aren't being protected from the UVA rays.
