Topless at Great Stirrup Cay?

Growing up in the Uk and holidaying in Europe, it's always been the norm on some beaches on. Not something I ever really thought about, then on holiday in Vegas I noticed the Wynn had a 'European pool' for topless sunbathing. Not sure if it's still there now. An American friend explained that it wasn't the norm in the US. I did find that strange as you can watch hard core porn in a hotel room

I thanks for all the input. But was asking if anyone has actually seen it or not. Not why they wouldn't or would have one. After all there used to be freestyle sun decks too.

Yes, I have...and frankly, I'm surprised at some of the early responses in this thread because I know it did exist very recently. Just 3 years ago, the beach that's just past the Island Bar was top optional. It was advertised as such and yes, there were a couple women out there without their tops on. This may have changed since then, but it definitely did exist in 2011.

Odd, was on the Jewel in December and accidently found the adult deck. Sorry to report that I did observe a couple of ladies without tops. The horror! Since it is allowed on ships why not ashore? Are the ships not family friendly?

Yeah we are a country of prudes that spends 1.5 billion dollars a year on the "adult" industry (videos, websites, toys and "paraphenalia", etc) TV shows push the envelope more and more and still get high ratings . Announce this second that there is a sex video of some hot young start and the computer will actually start smoking from all the hits it will get.

But God forbid a women is laying on a deck getting a tan with her top off.

...or attempt to feed her baby in public.

I have been to the Great Sturrup Cay a dozen times over the last 30 years. I had heard rumors that a topless beach used by the crew was on the opposite side on the island but never found it. I did hike down past the Lighthouse several years back and found an isolated beach area by an old dock but no one was there sunbathing.

There is another secluded beach area that my wife and I found 7 years ago that had a couple lounge chairs and we took the opportunity and made it our private clothing optional beach on that day and on several subsequent visits to the island. We never encountered anyone else while we were there. :D

This beach area still exists after the recent renovations but it may not be so secluded as there were around 20 loungers out there on my last visit in February 2014 on the Pearl Live Loud cruise.

So be adventurous... go to the island on the first tender and you can find this hidden "Freestyle Beach" on the other side of the Lagoon and sunbathe topless if you desire. Chances are no one will ever show up there to see you... except those reading this thread.

Blow are a couple pictures from my last visit. Coco Cay island can be seen in the distance and the lagoon area is behind me. We got out there about noon and found a couple people hiding under towels on the beach to the right so we walked down the beach to the left and positioned our loungers so no one could hardly tell we were even there or see what we weren't wearing.

Aerial shot showing location of "Freestyle Beach" in 2010 before lagoon was built. There is now a road and you can also hike down to the rocky coast line in the bottom of the picture. The Island has changed a lot over the last few years.

Since Mammary glands are NOT a sex organ does it really matter if they are covered or not?

For those that will now post that they most certainly ARE a sex organ ...well you might use them as one but no they actually biologically are not. Their sole purpose wether you want to agree or not is to nourish a baby. And while sex is why you had that baby the mammary organs were not needed to conceive that child

Just stating facts NOT opinion

sorry disagree: you and maybe me might not care, but going topless or nude is not the American way, a good % of NCL cruisers doing the private island are American and we need to understand public nudity is not the mainstream America.

Correction, not mainstream American from a woman's point of view. As for men, I haven't met one yet who ever complained about a woman going topless in public. So in reality, only half of America has a problem with it! ;)
