Do guest staying in the Royal Suite eat with the Captain?

Recommended Posts

From past experience, it is up to the Concierge, or GSM to escort you aboard, if you have the RS. Some do, and some do not.

And staying in the RS does not guarantee you a seat at the captains table.

The captain, along with the Maitre'd will come up with a list for those invited to dine with the captain.

The adult guests in the RS will definitely be invited to the Suite party, which, today, the Hotel Director tries to make unique.

Since this is a special occasion, it never hurts to ask the Concierge to pass on your request, but please don't be offended if you are not invited. Let's hope that you are!!

Enjoy your cruise!:)

Rick

No we wont be offended if we are not invited.Or if we don't get an escort onto the ship and taken to our suite. I personally feel that what cabin/suite your in shouldn't come into who gets picked to dine with the Captain. I only asked the question as some TA use it to get you to book the Royal suites.

And Thanks we will enjoy our cruise.

We have been in a Royal Suite 3 times on Royal Caribbean and we have never been escorted to our room or been invited to dinner with the Captain :( We will be in a Royal Suite again in March this time on a 15 day cruise. Maybe we will get lucky this time. Much smaller ship.

What is the 'suite party'? i have stayed in suites numerous times and have never been invited to a party for suite guests only.

For us, it was a cocktail party with officers in Hollywood Odyssey on Radiance.

The Hotel Director will have a "Suite Party" for full suite guests. They include the Captain, HD, and other senior officers to a private function. They include cocktails and canapés, and are sometimes held in the Viking Crown Lounge or other venue.

As a group on one ship, we have been invited to a private sail away by the peekaboo bridge area, another on the helipad. Sometimes all "Gold card holders will be invited, meaning that Pinnacle Club members will join the suite guests.

We had one such party one evening in the senior officers quarters, with both the Hotel Directors quarters and Captains quarters open, with bartenders in both, as well as different canapés in both.

If you have cruised recently, as in the past couple of years, in a full suite, I don't know why you would not have been invited to one of these parties. Royal Caribbean likes to do something for those that are willing to shell out the dollars to enjoy a full suite.

Hi Jasp.

We have stayed in RFS' 4 times. We are also D+. Had dinner with the Captain a couple of times. Last Christmas we were invited to the Captain's cabin for Christmas drinks.:D

You should have more than 50% chance of being invited, as in Australia there will not be many Pinnacles.

Cheers

If you are in a Grand suite or higher they have a coctail party or as we had on our last cruise a breakfast with the officers.

We had the escort, roses and wine on a two week IOS cruise. We were not asked to dine with the captain. We believe we were not asked because kids are not invited and they did not want to offend us by saying we could not bring the kids. We would have NO issue with sending the kids to JR or WJ if we were asked to dine with the captain. :)

Will see what happens next week on Freedom....

Is smart casual dress ok for the cocktail party or is coat and tie a better choice

Out experience (only twice) has been that the invitation will list the suggested dress.

Here is our experience over time. And it does seem to vary some.

We have received the Captains invite on 35% of the cruises in the RS.

We have apparently been lucky in that we have had the onboard escort including ships tour on 100% of sailings. They have all been on ships offering a RS as we have never sailed the two Oasis class ships.

We still take the tour mainly because those sailing with us get a great kick out of it. I am surprised it varies so much in others experience because they make a point of making introductions as you walk the ship and folks hand you their business card with the call if you need anything talk. Meant or not they sell that they are sincere and our experience has always been top notch.

I hope Royal gives all the expectations they create in peoples minds, be it suite or top suite treatmen!t or any of the loyalty perks. They have been an excellent cruise line in our experience and on a par or in some situations exceeding more expensive lines.

We have been on many RCL ships and have been invited to have dinner with the Captain on several occasions even though we have never been in an RS.

Also on one cruise, we were invited to have dinner with two officers. One was in charge of It and the other was from Marketing. There was another English couple making six of us. We had a table in Chops.

Met at 7.00 p.m and finally staggered out after 10.00 p.m. One of the best evenings we have had on any cruise.

somewhere on RCI's website it simply says you will be escorted onboard by an officer. It may be anyone from the Guest Services Manager to Concierge. On ships without a CL, the suite guest coordinator will escort you. The bottle on Moet Chandon is nice and there used to be flowers but now that RCI has dropped flowers onboard, you may not have flowers in your suite. The 1 time we've been in a RS we did not receive an invitation to dine with the captain (there were too many Pinnacles on board!).

we'll see what happens on splendour.. I am in the RS with my son and dil and my other son is in a regular suite... when we were on a Princess cruise a few years ago we ate with the captain every nite, except one nite we fell asleep after snorkeling all day and they came banging on our door looking for us.. we just couldn't muster up the strength ... and my kids were tired of my telling them they could not eat out of each others plates... lol...

Yes, Merrill Steubing is almost always there. He tells fantastic stories.

Julie usually sits quietly as she nibbles on her lettuce.

Gofer ties to hit on girls across the table who thinks he is goofy.

Doc rarely shows up because he is out canoodling with some gorgeous lady who weirdly thinks he is charming and attractive.

For some unknown reason, Isaac is still at the bar serving drinks, but guess what, he just met some lonely star that needs someone to talk to.

To be continued..................

No on the Rhapsody we didn't get met or any welcome of any type.We did find out that we were meant to of been met .But the email was sent to someone else and not even anyone we were traveling with. For some reason head office had made a mistake and linked our booking with our table mates and they got the email and escort onboard. We did get a bottle of champagne but no flowers. Also no dinner with the Captain or any sorry for the mistake. We still had a wonderful cruise in this lovely suite.

I have not read through this entire thread, but I will share my own experience.

We stayed in the Royal Suite onboard the Adventure in February 2014. We were greeted by the Concierge inside the terminal and escorted onboard and into our suite. We were floored by the space in the RS! Needless to say we were thrilled with our accommodations :D

To answer the OP's original question - yes we were invited to the Captain's Table for dinner. I'm not sure if the RS actually had anything to do with it though, because we have been at the Captain's table at least 6 times as Diamond Plus members - important to note however, we always stay in suites (just usually Owner's Suites).
