Iririki Island - you catch a water taxi to town from the dock for $5 pp, then get the ferry across to Iririki for about $15, maybe $18, and spend the day there. The price of the ferry comes off any food purchased.

Hi Cathy

I see you haven't had many replies so I will give you our experience.

As stated above, Irririki is ok to visit. They now charge, we used to go for free. Irririki is the island you see where the ship docks. The ship snorkel tour and glass bottom boat anchor in the waters there, we snorkelled right next to all those that had paid lots of $$

We have been over to Erakor Island, no fee, free ferry and we had lunch at their café and had a swim.

The last time we were in Vila (2010) we went to Paradise Cove, just got a taxi from outside the port. We had lunch there and snorkelled off their beach. Make sure to tell the driver to come back for you and don't pay him upfront.

We have also been to Chantilly's on the Bay, a lovely restaurant/resort on the water with fabulous views. If you keep walking down the main street past Fung Keui where all the duty free alcohol is sold, you will come to it. People were swimming out the front.

Just send any place you are interested in an email, they may only ask that you have lunch or a drink there.

We also go the The Waterfront Bar and Grill, it has good views over the bay and Iririki and a cold beer on a hot day.

Enjoy

We've done Iririki Island for the day twice. Loved it! Nice to have the large resort pools (and they were basically empty). Also had use of the kayaks, catamarans etc. Had lunch there. It's gone up a wee bit.. but still an inexpensive day. $5 to catch the water taxi direct to the Island from next door to where the ships dock. The water taxi will also detour on the way back.. and wait for you.. while you stop at the cheapest duty-free store in the South Pacific. 🙂
