Rare Tapi Posted June 28, 2014 #26 Share Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) Why Melbourne and not Orlando? I believe all the Delta flights are in the same concourse in Atlanta so you getting to the connection shouldn't be a problem. Your luggage, on the other hand, is the problem. A) Melbourne would be my choice for a cruise from Port Canaveral. Much easier, smaller and closer to the port. B) Delta operates from ALL concourses in Atlanta. That's a total of 7 concourses. You could literally be a mile and a half away from one gate to another! C) In most cases, your bag will make it to your connecting airplane before you. People don't realize that, before the first passenger steps off the airplane, the cargo bins are already open and being offloaded. Your luggage is most likely already in a cart, speeding away to your next flight while you're still working your way down the jetway. Of course, that's assuming the the bag is properly routed and the system is working without snags. To the OP: CALL DELTA. You are entitled to other flights at no charge since the schedule change was done by the airline. I'm an Airline Pilot, in good health, and very familiar with the Atlanta airport (I live there). I know that I'd have a hard time making a 35 minute connection, even sprinting through the airport and fully knowing where I'm going. There's NO WAY that I would accept that connection, specially with your health issues. ducklite Posted June 28, 2014 #27 Share Posted June 28, 2014 If you are in the back of the bus, it can take 20 minutes from the time you land until you step foot into the terminal. Get it changed. Is 35 minutes even a legal connection at ATL?

As for much of the advice posted, as long as it is a legal connect, you do not have an automatic "have the airline rebook you". It may or may not occur. Have your alternatives in hand before you call the airline and be in a polite and helpful mode. Remember the words about sugar and vinegar. rkacruiser Posted June 28, 2014 #29 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Agree with the other posters: 35 minutes is inadequate connection time. As someone else said, I prefer a minimum of 2 hours. If you are a Skymiles member, I would call the Skymiles number and not the usual reservations number. I have found that working through the Skymiles agent is often very helpful. fourkittys Posted November 14, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted November 14, 2014 Thanks to everyone for all the great replies and suggestions. It's now two weeks before our cruise and Delta has changed our layover time to 2 hours. YEA! Great ideas about golf carts and/or wheel chair assistance. Will definatley remember this. We are hanging on to our luggage to avoid mishaps so no worries there. I am trying familurizing myself with Atlanta's layout and have printed a couple of maps to aid us. How I long for the option of reasonable priced nonstop flights like we had a couple of years ago. So simple. THANKS AGAIN!!!
