Review: Carnival Liberty - Southern Caribbean 6/20-6/28

Recommended Posts

This is a nice, concise review! Thanks so much and your pics are awesome. We are doing this trip Oct 25, 2014! Cannot wait.

PS- the tips on the islands are super helpful!

If we visit these ports again, we'll probably just go to the beaches. Grand Turk you can go to the Beach and Margaritaville and have a great time and spend no money on excursions, IMO.

Margaritaville is rather expensive so we went back to the ship for lunch and I came back to watch the soccer game.

We didn't eat at Margaritaville. However, given the size of the drinks, the fact we got a souvenir glass (that offered reduced price refills), and the great atmosphere, I'd say I consider going in the pool and having a few drinks a very reasonable expense. The drinks overall were probably no more expensive than on the ship - maybe less and we had a lot of fun!

I thought lthey were expensive but it is a very lively place and probably paying for the liveliness.

Nice review, thanks for taking the time to post it. I am going on a semi similar itinerary on the Breeze out of Miami in late September so every chance I get to see reviews of the southern track I check it out. I went on the Liberty in 2009 on a western sailing which took me to Ocho Rios where I climbed the Dunn's river falls. Haven't been that sore after an excursion since LOL. Nice ship. I have read many reviews of Jack's shack in Grand Turk and I'm probably going to give it a shot when I go there again. I have been to the Margaritaville and it is hands down, the best one I have ever been to and I have been to more than a few. Not much else to do on that island though, once you have done a guided tour once which I have. Looking forward to it.

Dang! You got a ship on a stick, I am so jealous. The Liberty is my favorite Carnival ship, been on it twice this year!

I won one on this cruise but gave it away to a young girl who looked like she needed it more than me.

You're so nice. I can even tell you how many Carnival cruises I've been on and have yet to get one, but that's my goal...one day.

I only got one this cruise. I'm a HUGE trivia geek and trivia buffs where in full effect this time out.

Last year on the Liberty I got three (General Trivia, Michael Jackson Trivia and one other I forget). Some guy in the elevator got excited seeing one of the ones I was taking back to my room and how he had cruised a long time and never got one - and I gave it to him. The pleased look on his face and the thank you's made me feel 200% better than I've ever felt winning one!

great review and great video; we loved that band

Oh yeah. Music Boardwalk rocks. Audie (the keyboard player) alone is enough to get me to wherever they are playing. Solid playing on all instruments and great singing. We don't really gamble but we where in the Casino nearly every night listening.

Now that this thread has probably died down a little, time for a little "off color", very funny story.

At the Casino lounge the first night (watching Music Boardwalk of course), we'd met a 2 couples who were a little older than us who were also watching. The husbands had been gambling and the wives doing more listening of the music. We all started talking and we'd told them that this was the first vacation we'd taken without the kids in 15 years.

One the guys mentioned how he would HATE to be in the room next to us with all the racket we must be making night after night with all the freedom of being free from children finally. We all laughed at his playful teasing and after some drinks and dancing, left to go to our room.

The next morning we left our room on the first floor to go to breakfast and we ran into one of the couples (not the one that had joked about being next to us) who were also heading to breakfast. They'd looked a little surprised and explained to us that our room WAS RIGHT NEXT TO THE COUPLE to which the husband had joked that he'd hate to be roomed next to use.

NO LIE.

Out of the thousands of passengers on the ship, we were roomed right next to the couple who we'd met the night before who had joked about it.

.... we then went right back into our room and proceeded to bang on the walls and make loud moaning noises that we all joked about later.
