What is the obstruction I wonder. If I recall you can look out and to the sides but you have a nice view if you look down at the to of the lifeboats.

We had an obstructed view on the Legend. The obstruction was the lifeboat. You could see over the life boat as the lifeboat was below the top of the balcony railing. Your view downward is obstructed. You cannot look down to see the wake along side of the ship.

If you are going to select an obstructed view balcony, choose one between the lifeboats or in the front where the life rafts are. The life rafts leave less obstruction than the life boats.

In our opinion the obstructed view balcony cabins are a great deal.

Had 5189 on the miracle and the only obstuction was that the lifeboat went upt to the bottom of the balcony so you couldn't look down now big deal. Just avoid the first three lifeboats and you are good to go.

We are thinking of booking an obstructed balcony cabin on the Upper Deck (5).

Any thoughts of pictures you might be able to share would be helpful

Thank you.

Just book a cabin after the first 3 tender/lifeboats. Those sit up higher. I had cabin 5232 on the Spirit, and there was no obstruction when sitting on the balcony looking out. As others have said, only obstructed when looking down.

Cabins 5236 and 5238 are the bowling alley balconies.

I have nothing of value to add here.

BUT

I'm pissing myself laughing at the title. I imagine down in the deli there's something only just blocking your almost perfect view of the sandwich meats.

Obstructed Baloney.

I'm halfway through my night shift with only my laptop to keep me company and now I need the potty.

Thank you.

Steer clear of the first one or two lifeboats from the prow, they have a higher rooftop and will obstruct your view. The others come up to your balcony floor and are okay. My sister-in-law has a fear of heights and this level was perfect for her as she couldn't look down but could enjoy all the sights on the Alaska trip. Happy cruising.:)

Yes the obstructed balconies are on deck 5 and obstructed by lifeboats. But we just got off the Miracle and had an extended balcony on deck 7 that we were not very happy with.

Cabin 7158. When we booked, I didn't even think about it. But it is the first cabin on Port side right behind the first bank of balcony cabins. There is an offset in the rooms and it sits inward toward the center of the ship about 4 feet. When we were on the balcony, you could not see forward, but only out and toward the back of the ship. Still had a good time, but just warning others.

I have nothing of value to add here.

BTW, I had to laugh when I first read this too, because I thought maybe the baloney sandwich didn't pass though and they had to go to the ships infirmary.

I just got off the Miracle and had an obstructed view balcony. As said before, if you can book over the last 3 life boats you can even sit in a chair on your balcony and see everything. I loved it. I took a zillion pictures of various obstructed view cabins on the Miracle and will post them when I get around to it. The picture below is of a cabin that was towards the back of one of the last 3 life boats. Mine was one in front of that, so I did not have the higher bump that has the 'plus' sign on it.

Yeah I liked it for a different reason... it was my first balcony and first cruise as a solo and first cruise in 16 years and first over 21. My family and I were worried about falling over the side because of the recent news stories. Needless to say I took a picture of the balcony and sent to my sister and they felt better. I am was hooked ever since!

The following info is fro: http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/Carnival/fleet/spirit/CabinswithObstructedViews.htm

The following staterooms have an obstructed view due to the location of the lifeboats on Main Deck 4:

Category 4F: Each stateroom has a window.

4202 4203 4205 4207

Category 4F: Each stateroom has a set of French Doors; the doors open up into the cabin; there is no balcony.

4105 4106 4107 4108 4109 4110 4111 4112 4114 4115 4116 4117 4118 4119 4120 4121 4122 4123 4124 4125 4126 4127 4128 4129 4130 4131 4132 4133 4134 4135 4136 4137 4138 4139 4140 4141 4142 4143 4144 4145 4146 4147 4148 4149 4150 4151 4152 4153 4154 4155 4188 4189 4190 4191 4192 4193 4194 4195 4196 4197 4198 4199 4200 4201

Category 7A: Each stateroom has a standard balcony that is obstructed by the top of the lifeboat from the deck below or by the lifeboat davits; this does not interfere with the Ocean View as the lifeboat does not protrude above the balcony railing.

5142 5143 5144 5145 5146 5147 5148 5149 5150 5151 5152 5153 5154 5155 5156 5157 5158 5159 5160 5161 5162 5163 5164 5165 5166 5167 5168 5169 5170 5171 5172 5173 5174 5175 5176 5177 5178 5179 5180 5181 5182 5183 5184 5185 5186 5187 5188 5189 5190 5191 5224 5226 5227 5228 5229 5230 5231 5232 5233 5234

Each stateroom has a large balcony that is obstructed by the top of the lifeboat from the deck below or by the lifeboat davits; this does not interfere with the Ocean View as the lifeboat does not protrude above the balcony railing.

Here are some short videos showing the balcony and view of our obstructed balcony cabin 5236 on the Miracle. We loved this cabin and wanted to book it again for our upcoming cruise but someone beat us to it! Oh well next time :)
