How do you spend your shipboard credits?

Last year when I had $1600 SBC I bought Citizen watches for my grandchildren and used some for laundry.

 

 

Others use it for spa treatments. I didn't do that because I'm beyond treatments!

In addition to the things Ted mentioned, you can purchase wine or spirits from the extra cost lists. You can purchase extra charge excursions with credits. If you have purchased extra charge excursions online prior to your cruise, many times Destination Services can refund your purchase price and charge the excursion to your shipboard account. While you cannot use shipboard credits in the casino, you may use shipboard credits to pay for bingo.

There are different types of onboard credits, some of which you can get in cash if not used, and some which are use it or lose it. The ones that you can get back in cash are usually offered by certain credit card companies or as a travel agent incentive. The use it or lose it are generally direct from regent.

You can use them to also cover Internet if you don't have that included already, laundry and dry cleaning, the spa, the excursions which cost extra. We don't use them for the premium wines as I am happy with the included ones. Regent will tell you whether your specific onboard credit is redeemable for cash.

You cannot use OBC in the casino.

Good to know! I don't remember BINGO when we were on the Navigator, and I like to play BINGO--Don't all good Catholics? :)

We get a gift card from our big box store TA plus shipboard credits. We cash in the gift card and use the money towards our next cruise!

Works the same way as Crystal. Use it or lose it. The guy's really have a limited choice of purchase. The ladies always seem to find something to buy on Rgent or Crystal shops.

My husband used ours by "up-ordering" wine each night. We were with a foodie group and would take turns picking wine from the menu.

On one of our longer cruises, my DH used his for a haircut. I LOVE using ours for laundry, which was already mentioned.

 

When we had a cash refund coming and didn't want to carry the cash, as we were going on an after cruise land trip, Regent sent us a check and it was here shortly after we arrived home.

I am not allowed to say, but it is the best thing we have discovered, as long as you aren't a first time cruiser. You should already have all of your information when you call. In the US, there are "big box" stores that in addition to selling large quantity items, cars, boats, discount watches/jewelry....they are an excellent TA service as well. No one can beat their prices.

Sometimes there is an excellent tailor onboard such as our last Mariner cruise. We had several pairs of jeans and slacks shortened. He came right to the cabin and did a wonderful job. Great use of our shipboard credit.

 

I also suggest looking at the watches as Ted C mentioned. The Citizen watches don't need batteries and look nice.
