losijon Posted July 13, 2014 #51 Share Posted July 13, 2014 If my wife isn't up I'd head out and grab some coffee and walk the ship. Perhaps take some pictures and wait for the sun to rise. ..................................................... aaron3219 Posted July 13, 2014 #52 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I only wake up really early one morning. I am up at 430am for work every day so I tended to sleep in a bit. But the one morning I got up early and sat on a chair drinking some oj and watching the run rise. No land in sight it was quite a sight. I wish I would of brought a camera but my cheap camera probably would of botched it up
JLee1973 Posted July 13, 2014 #53 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Jog around the ship. Watch the sunrise and then shower before breakfast. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
RuthlessBoss Posted July 13, 2014 #54 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I would get room service for coffee, then sit on my smoke free balcony and watch the sun rise.:p On Princess, right?;)
tinyrose Posted July 13, 2014 #55 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I would be --- rolling over and going back to sleep. I am definitely not an early bird. But DH is and would be up on Lido watching the sunrise.
Rare Morgsmom Posted July 13, 2014 #56 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I would roll over and go back to bed. I am by no means a morning person in any way, shape, or form. If I was forced to get my grumpy butt out of my room, then I would require a nap probably somewhere around 10AM. Need my beauty sleep, ya know :D hahahahahah --- that's what I was going to say! If I was ever up at 5:30 am I'd certainly roll back over and fall back to sleep. Let the chair hogs do their work in peace!
RuthlessBoss Posted July 13, 2014 #57 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I'd probably grab a cup of coffee and head up to the bow and take in the view of where we are going. I've actually done this a few times on cruises with early port arrivals. New York is the best port arrival to watch as you sail in, but it's sad because it means the cruise is over. Sent from my iPad using Forums That sounds wonderful. My only experience with New York has been zipping through on I95 going north or south.:(
Carnival Cutie Posted July 13, 2014 #58 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Me too, bigcraig. I'd be sipping some room service coffee on the balcony and then head to the casino. Early mornings on sea days are the best time to play. You have a choice of machines and there's no cigarette smoke that time of day. Not to mention people rudely standing over your shoulder watching you and asking silly questions.

JWGrayson Posted July 13, 2014 #61 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Good Lord knows why I am awake this morning at 5:30, but He may be the only one. If you were on a ship at this time, what would you be doing? I'd be getting some coffee on te lido deck and waiting for the sun to rise. Hey Marshhawk, This has actually happen to me a lot as we have taken some long cruises with lots of sea days. My DW is able to sleep a lot later, so I get up and pull on some shorts, grab my Kindle and head out of the room. I often hit a computer and work on my Funville blog of our adventures. When they open the Lido buffet, I head up and get water and fruit. I don't eat breakfast until my DW gets up, then we eat together. Mainlining cruise ship coffee (need double), pacing the deck, wondering why everyone is sleeping so late. It would probably help if I didn't go to bed at 9pm every night but.....:) Well, you have the same issue that I have, though we go to bed an hour later at 10:00 PM. So, in the early morning I'm wide awake and wanting to do something. As you know, there isn't much to do on a ship at that hour, well, except to stroll the Lido and see all the other old folks who can't sleep. As golfadj said, you can find some interesting people for conversation. On the Breeze TA (Nov 2012) I would work on my Funville blog on the Lido and people would stroll by and ask what I was doing. I would explain and then we would delve into a conversation that made time fly by. Around 7:00, I'd head down and wake my wife. John

golfadj Posted July 13, 2014 #63 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I'd probably wish you a good morning and stagger to my cabin to get some sleep after a long night. funny
golfadj Posted July 13, 2014 #64 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Yep, I am normally awake before sunrise at home or at sea. If it's more than an hour till sunrise, I head off to Lido for coffee, then walk around Promenade and take photos of the places, casino, shops, etc before they open. I may go to internet cafe and post on Funville. Then head up for sunrise and photos and peace. It's a spiritual time and reflection time to stand in awe of the sunrise through clouds, rain, clear skies, or however it is that morning!!! Love the morning!! wow 70,000 posts. PhxRain Posted July 13, 2014 #67 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I have to be up at 6am to take my daily thyroid med(thank you cancer - NOT) so while on the ship I will probably take binoculars & a camera either onto our balcony or up on deck. It depends on which side of the ship Alaska is on. After an hour, grab DH & I some coffee & go wake the family up to get ready for breakfast before we get off the ship for our excursion. LandlockedCruiser01 Posted July 13, 2014 #68 Share Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) I'd head on over to the lido deck, plop down a towel and a book on a deck chair, and go back to sleep until my usual wake-up time. (JUST KIDDING :D:D:D) If I woke up that early and couldn't fall back to sleep, I'd clean myself up, and go to the bufffet for a morning coffee and a donut, as a pre-breakfast of sorts. Then I'd putz around the deck, make small talk with other early risers, and enjoy the atmosphere of an empty ship. If the pool is already open, I'd have a quick swim too. bearette Posted July 13, 2014 #70 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I'm with the others, unless my kids are sick, I have some plane or shore excursion to catch I am in bed. A few times my husband has gotten up to take pictures. Sunrise and lounges without people. Once I cleaned up my 18 months olds vomit, being a mom is awesome. Best part of that story is DH never even batted an eye. Sent from my KFTHWI using Forums mobile app

mzloolue Posted July 13, 2014 #72 Share Posted July 13, 2014 Me personally would hit the running/walking track. Nothing better then exercising to the sun coming up. This is what I should be doing. But probably I would be watching the sun come up with a cup of hot tea.

Rudyard Posted July 13, 2014 #74 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I'm often up that early when I cruise and most other days. I agree with the majority. It's a great time to grab a cup of coffee, enjoy the peace and quiet, and watch the sun come up. If it's a port day, it's fun to watch the land come up over the horizon.
